4.1.2 Connecting the ASSKEA secretion aspirators M-series

Check the power supply unit incl. mains cable for any damage
and replace it immediately if damaged.
For the network-independent aspiration devices, use the socket for the
12 V power supply unit (fig. 2(G)) to connect the device to the mains
power supply with the aid of the supplied power supply unit to charge
or operate it as needed. Make sure that the device is positioned in
such a way that it is possible to easily disconnect it later. First connect
the power supply unit to the socket for the power supply unit of the
ASSKEA secretion aspirators M-series and then to the mains power
supply. Information on the permissible environmental conditions
during operation can be found in section 8 "Technical data".

4.2 Start-up
• Remove the device and the accessories from the packaging.
• Always place the device on a sturdy and flat surface without slope.
• The ASSKEA secretion aspirators M- and S-series can be pla-
ced next to the patient bed. Optionally, a variable holder for the
attachment of the devices to tube and rail systems as well as a bed
holder are available.
• Inspect all tubes as well as the power supply unit or mains
cable for damage prior to each start-up of the ASSKEA secretion
aspirators M- and S-series. It is important to avoid kinking when
connecting the tubes. Ensure prior to switching on the unit that the
secretion canister and the tubing are properly connected.
• Fully charge the battery prior to initial start-up (only valid for
ASSKEA secretion aspirators M-series).
• Prior to the initial start-up it is essential that you follow the safety
instructions in section 2.6.
• Always have one backup disposable liner "OneWay" (when using
aspiration catheter with the disposable secretion canister system) ready or one backup
external bacterial filter (when using the reusable secretion canister
system), since these are absolutely necessary for safe operation!
• Before each use, check the reusable secretion canister is comple-
patient
tely clean to avoid foaming.
