5 Maintenance

5.3.4 Thermal cleaning of the connecting tube

1. Applies only to the ASSKEA reusable secretion canister system:
Remove the external bacterial filter and dispose of it in a proper
manner (see section 7.3) prior to cleaning the connecting tube.
2. Rinse the connecting tube with clear water and place it in a water
bath at 65 °C for 15 minutes once a day.
3. Then rinse the connecting tube thoroughly with clear water and
let it dry.

Assemble the components with a new external bacterial filter.

ASSKEA GmbH recommends replacing the connecting tube at least
every 4 weeks.

5.3.5 Disposal of the "OneWay" disposable liner

1. Disconnect the connecting tube of the "OneWay" disposable liner
from the upper end of the T-piece of the "Bag" external canister
(Fig. 13).
2. Remove the "OneWay" disposable liner from the reusable "Bag"
external canister.
3. Dispose of the "OneWay" disposable liner and the suction tube in
a proper manner (see section 7.3 "Disposal").

5.3.6 Thermal cleaning of the external canister "Bag"

Rinse the external canister "Bag" under running water and let it dry.
It is also possible to place the external canister "Bag" into a water bath
at 65 °C for 15 minutes for thermal cleaning.
ASSKEA GmbH recommends replacing the external canister "Bag" after
30 thermal cleanings or in the case of visible damage or functional
restrictions.

5.3.7 Thermal cleaning of the suction tube

1. Dispose of the suction tube in a proper manner prior to each new
patient!
2. If used for one patient only, rinse the suction tube with clear water
after each aspiration procedure and place it into a water bath at
65 °C for 15 minutes once a day.
3. Then rinse the suction tube thoroughly with clear water and let it
dry.
ASSKEA GmbH recommends replacing the suction tube every 4 weeks
at the latest, even if used for one patient only, since the material can
become discolored and brittle due to frequent use.
