4. Push the tab (46) on the motor protec-
tion filter (47) down and remove the
frame (47) for the motor protection filter.

5. Take the motor protection filter (48) out of
the frame (47).
6. Dispose of the motor protection filter (48)
and wash the frame (47) under running
water.
Let the frame (47) dry completely.
7. Insert a new motor protection filter (48)
into the frame (47).
8. Re-insert the frame (47) with the motor
protection filter (48).
9. Replace the dust bag (44) as described
in "Cleaning or changing the dust bag" on
page EN-17 and close the cover (9).

Cleaning the hygiene filter

WARNING
Risk of electric shock!
Touching live parts may result in severe
injury or death.
■ Before cleaning the hygiene fi lter, al-
ways pull the mains plug out of the
socket.
■ Never pull the mains plug out of the
socket by the mains cord, always hold
the mains plug itself.
Care and maintenance
NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Using the appliance without fi lters or
with unsuitable fi lters may damage the
appliance.
■ Correct functioning of the appliance
can only be guaranteed if a suitable

hygiene fi lter is used.
■ Never vacuum without a hygiene fi l-
ter or with one that is damaged. Dust
which has been vacuumed up can get
inside the appliance and damage the
motor.
■ Never dry hygiene fi lters on a heater
or with a hairdryer or tumble dryer,
etc. It will become porous and can be
damaged.
■ Do not wash the hygiene fi lter in the
washing machine.
■ Only let the hygiene fi lter air-dry.
The hygiene filter should be cleaned
every time the dust bag is changed.
If odours cannot be removed by clean-
ing or the hygiene filter is too heavily
soiled, it must be replaced.

At the rear of your appliance there is a cover
flap (49) which conceals the hygiene filter.
