7.8 Sediment cup (Fig.21)
Cleaning
m WARNING
Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive, and you
can be burned or seriously injured when handling
fuel.
• Stop the engine and keep heat, sparks, and flame
• away.
• Handle fuel only outdoors.
• Wipe up spills immediately.
1. Move the fuel valve (7) to the OFF position, and
then remove the sediment cup (21d), O-Ring
(21c) and filter (21b).
2. Wash the sediment cup (21d) and filter (21b) in
non-flammable solvent, and dry it thoroughly.
3. Install the filter (21b) and place the O-ring (21c) in
the fuel valven (7) and install the sediment cup
(21d) . Tighten the sediment cup (21d) securely.
4. Move the fuel valve (7) to the ON position, and
check for leaks. Replace the O-ring (21c) if there
is any leakage
7.9 Spark plug (Fig.26/30)
Recommended Spark Plugs:
F7RTC or similar spark plugs
The recommended spark plug has the correct heat
range for normal engine operating temperatures
m NOTE
An incorrect spark plug can cause engine damage.
For good performance, the spark plug must be prop-
erly gapped and free of deposits.
1. Disconnect the spark plug cap, and remove any
dirt from around the spark plug area.
2. Remove the spark plug with a 13/16-inch spark
plug wrench (30a) .
3. Inspect the spark plug. Replace it if damaged or
badly fouled, if the sealing washer (26b)is in
poor condition, or if the electrode (26a) is worn.
4. Measure the spark plug electrode gap with a wire-
type feeler gauge. Correct the gap, if necessary,
by carefully bending the side electrode (26a).
The gap should be: 0,7 - 0,8 mm
5. Install the spark plug carefully, by hand, to avoid
crossthreading.
6. After the spark plug is seated, tighten with a
13/16-inch spark plug wrench (30a) to compress
the sealing washer (26b).
When installing a new spark plug, tighten 1/2
turn after the spark plug seats to compress the
washer (26b).

When reinstalling the original spark plug, tighten
1/8 1/4 turn after the spark plug seats to com-
press the washer (26b.
m NOTE
A loose spark plug can overheat and damage the
engine. Overtightening the spark plug can damage
the threads in the cylinder head
7. Attach the spark plug cap to the spark plug.
7.10 Spark arrester (applicable types)
In Europe and other countries where the machin-
ery directive 2006/42/EC is enforced, this cleaning
should be done by your servicing dealer.
The spark arrester may be standard or an optional
part, depending on the engine type. In some areas,
it is illegal to operate an engine without a spark ar-
rester. Check local laws and regulations. A spark
arrester is available from authorized servicing deal-
ers.
The spark arrester must be serviced every 100
hours to keep it functioning as designed.
m WARNUNG
If the engine has been running, the muffler will be hot.
Allow it to cool before servicing the spark arrester.
Spark Arrester Removal (Fig.25)
1. Remove the air filter.
2. Remove the two 4 mm screws (25e) from the
exhaust deflector (25d) and then remove the
deflector (25d) and muffler guide (25c) (applica-
ble types).
3. Remove the four 5 mm screws (25b) the muffler
protector (25a) and remove the muffler protector
(25a).
4. Remove the 4 mm screw (25f) from the spark ar-
rester (25g) and remove the spark arrester (25g)
fromthe muffler.
Spark Arrester Cleaning & Inspection (Fig.24/25)
1. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the
spark arrester screen (24a). Be careful not to
damage the screen. Replace the spark arrester
if it has breaks or holes.
2. Install the spark arrester (25g), muffler protector
(25a), exhaust deflector (25d) andmuffler guide
(25c) in the reverse order of removal.
3. Install the air cleaner.

Storage Preparation
Proper storage preparation is essential for keep-
ing your engine trouble-free and looking good. The
following steps will help to keep rust and corrosion
from impairing your engine's function and appear-
ance, and will make the engine easier to start when
you use it again.
