5.4 MOUNTING THE SHORT TENSIONING STRAPS

Figure 13: 6 x short tensioning strap
Insert the short tensioning strap from the inside to the outside below the
bike holder and then from the outside to the inside through the slots of the
bike holder (Figure 14). For the rear wheel of the bicycle, use the centre
slot of the wheel holder, for the front wheel, use the two outer slots (two
tensioning straps to prevent the front wheel from turning).

5.5 MOUNTING THE BICYCLES TO THE REAR RACK

The first bicycle is placed in the first bicycle rail (closest to the vehicle) and
secured to the U-shaped bracket with the short frame holder. To do this, use
the side of the frame holder with the tensioning strap to secure to the bicy-
cle frame. The wheels are secured by placing the tensioning straps around
the wheel rim of your bicycle and tightening the straps. Caution: The front
wheel must be secured with two small tensioning straps to prevent it from
turning (Figure 15). The second bicycle is used placed in the second rail,
facing the opposite direction and secured to the U-shaped bracket with the
long frame holder. The wheels are secured in the same way as for the first
bicycle. It may be necessary to offset the individual bicycles differently on
the rack to ensure that the frame holders may be correctly secured. Now
secure the bicycles with the long safety strap. Wrap the safety strap through
the bicycle frames and the U-shaped bracket and tighten. (See Figure 16)
Without this safety strap, the bicycle rack may not be
used.

5.6 FOLDING MECHANISM

If you wish to operate the folding mechanism, always hold the
U-shaped bracket or the bicycles with one hand to ensure that
the rack is not able to fold out suddenly. (Risk of injury)
To open the car boot, you may fold the rack down, even if bicycles are
mounted.
With one hand, push down on the unlocking lever of the folding mechanism
(Figure 17), with the other hand, hold the bicycles or the U-shaped bracket.
After unlocking, fold the bicycle rack down carefully.

When folding up, make sure that the mechanism is free and nothing is
trapped in it. Make sure that the folding mechanism is fully engaged before
driving off.

5.7 FOLDING UP THE BICYCLE RACK

First fold the wheel rails back onto the rack table. Push the locking mecha-
nism of the rear lights (Position 1 in Figure 18) outwards, and then swivel
the light mount back (Position 2 in Figure 18). Push it firmly against the rack
table until it engages perceptibly. Proceed accordingly on the other side of
the rack.

In order to store the bicycle rack as flatly as possible, you can also fold
the U-shaped bracket down. To do this, undo the two knob nuts until the
U-shaped bracket comes out of the locking mechanism. Now you can fold
the U-shaped bracket down onto the rack table.
