5. Installation, mechanics
Adjust your caravan or trailer to a convenient working
height. A lifting platform or installation pit is prefer-
able. Ensure that the caravan or trailer is secured with
suitable trestles when using a jack.
Working under the vehicle without support and saf-
ety provisions poses a mortal risk!
Remove all parts from the packaging and
systematically arrange them on the floor in
front of you.
The work described below must be perfor-
med in front of and behind the axle in each
case!
There have to be used screws which at least
comply with strength class (category) 8.8.
M1
Determine the installation position in Fig.
5.1
Determine whether the ideal installation position is
in front of and behind the axle. Ensure the following:
• The distance between the vehicle floor and the lo-
wer edge of the frame (min. 50 mm )
• Clearance between bottom edge of frame and
ground (recommended ground clearance min.
120 mm).
• External dimensions, including any parts attached
to the trailer, such as a spare wheel or wastewater
pipes.
M2
Installation drive unit Figure 4.1 + 4.2
First mount the left or right drive unit onto the chassis
using the mounting kit in between the chassis fra-
me (Fig. 4.1 and 4.2). Tighten the screws by hand.
Position the drive unit as shown in Fig. 6.2.
Ideally, the centre of the roller should be at the centre
of the tyre.
M3
Alignment, Fig. 5.1 to 6.2
CAUTION!
The length of the stabiliser rod must be adapted to
the vehicle according to the installation dimensions
specified in Figure 5.1 and 6.1.
GB4
You must use a longer stabiliser rod when the stabi-
liser rod provided does not at least extend 300 mm
into the square tube of the mounting frame. Optimal
function can otherwise not be guaranteed. We re-
commend using the 2000mm stabilizer rod for all
caravans with a width of 2.5 meter.
The stabiliser rod provided must be shortened when
it is too long.
Accurately determine the middle of the stabiliser and
mark it.
Slide the stabiliser rod into the square tube of the al-
ready mounted drive unit.
Slide the other drive unit over the other end of the sta-
biliser rod and fasten it to the vehicle frame by using
clamping plates. Also hand-tighten these screws.
Align the stabiliser rod in the middle and hand-tigh-
ten its clamping screws
M4
Alignment, Fig 5.1 to 5.3 and 6.2
Now align both sides of the manoeuvring drive so as
to comply with the required installation dimensions
as per Fig. 5.1 to 5.3 and 6.2. When swivelled out, the
driving rollers must be approximately 15 – 20 mm
away from the tyres. Use a wooden block at the centre
of the tyre as a guide (Fig. 6.2).
The wheel must be fully loaded when ad-
justing the clearance. This means that all of the cara-
van/trailer must be on level ground.
M5
Tightening the clamping plates, Fig. 4.2
Now tighten the clamping assemblies of the right and
left drive units, first tightening the M10x45 mm to 60
Nm, then M10x30 mm to 35 Nm.
Make sure that the clearance between the driving rol-
lers and the tyres has not changed and is still 15 – 20
mm (Fig. 6.2).
