The product moves with the patient to assist in the
reduction of shear forces at the interface between the
surface and the patient.
The product provides air flow to help manage microclimate
of the skin.
The support surface is constructed with rows of air cells
connected to two different air lines (C). Odd row air cells
(A) are connected to the A air line and even row cells (B)
are connected to the B air line (Figure 1).
When AST is on, sensors in the sacral region (D) of the
support surface help control patient immersion (Figure 1).
The left and right side bolsters (E) provide exterior support
to the patient. This helps to secure the patient within the
support surface (Figure 1).
