4 Unit Description
4.1 Functionality
'Versatronic' is a multifunctional measurement and control device. Up to four
measurements can be recorded and processed simultaneously with it. As a result, the
most important aspects are described in more detail:
Display
A 5.5"colour screen with touch functionality is responsible both for the display of all parameters
as well as for the operation and adjustment of the device.
The plain text operating approach facilitates the operation of the unit by the user.
The factory preset languages for the user to choose from are: German, English, Spanish, French
and Italian to choose from.
Measure
A central platform for display and further processing of pH, potential redox, electrolytic
conductivity, temperature, and disinfection measured values such as free chlorine, total chlorine,
chlorine dioxide and peracetic acid, or flow rate, the system offers a very wide range of
applications. Universal inputs can be used for measurement of analogue measured values via
unit signals [0 (4) to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V]. Overall, the device can simultaneously measure up to
19 parameters and manage them.
Regulate
In addition to numerous simple alarms, limits, or time-controlled switching functions in Ecolab
'Versatronic' are defined the same time for up to 4 high order control loops. The field-tested
Ecolab control algorithms for P, PI, PD and PID control are used.
Register
For data recording, a screen recorder is integrated. Up to 8 analogue measured values and 6
binary signals are registered and displayed on the screen in its time period. The storage is
tamper-proof and allows it to meet record keeping regulations. The data can be read by Ecolab
PCC software or USB memory stick and evaluated with the PC Evaluation Software PCA3000
Ecolab.
DANGER!
The device is not suitable for use in potentially explosive
environments.
4.1.1 Special version Versatronic - cooling water
The special version of Versatonic - Cooling water was specially designed for the
requirements in the desalination cooling water and can control up to three cooling towers
simultaneously.
Depending on the number of the controlled cooling towers, two additional measurements,
such as pH, ORP, and chlorine measurements can also be collected and processed.
Monitors and controls the cooling tower Pro Versatronic - cooling water following criteria:
Desalination
If the measured conductivity value exceeds the target value W +, the output terminal
for the desalination valve is activated, and "desalination" will be displayed on the
display.
As soon as the conductivity value falls below W- again due to the supply of fresh water, the desalination valve
is closed and the display goes out. The biocide dosage is blocked for the duration of the desalination process.
Biocide
For the control of one or two cooling towers with a device, two different biocides can be dosed, for control of
three cooling towers, it is possible to dose one biocide per cooling tower. The dosing points will be
determined each week. Each week, there are two (with two biocides) or four (for a biocide) dosing points
available.
If a dosing point activated by the weekly timer, then a flag for a biocide (orange LED)
is displayed, the associated output for the particular biocide is activated and the
display will show 'DOS. Biocide (X)' .
After the set dosing time, the flag for the biocide dosing is reset and the adjustable
time starts (reaction time), during which the desalination remains locked. The term
"Exposure" is displayed.
Pre-desalination
For the envisaged timing of a biocide dosing the biocide flag (orange LED) is set again. If at this time the
conductivity value is higher than the desalination threshold value Ws, the desalination is preferred and the
biocide dosing is locked.
