3 Transport and interim storage
Immediately upon receipt of the product:
• Check product for transport damage,
• In case of transport damage, take the necessary
steps with the forwarding agent within the appro-
priate time limits.
CAUTION! Danger of material damage
Unsuitable transport and unsuitable interim
storage can cause material damage to the
product.

4 Intended use

The solids separation system is suited for pumping
domestic sewage.
NOTE: The local regulations are to be followed in
each case of use.
The intended use includes complying with these
instructions.
Any other use is considered outside the intended
use.

Shut-off ball (floatable)
The solids separation system is a corrosion-free
system made from PEHD material for domestic
sewage with a special delivery technique.
NOTE: If a solids separation system has been
delivered with a specific pump type, no other
pump types may be installed without consulting
with the manufacturer.
6.2 Functional principle (fig. 1 and 2)
The sewage flows through the inflow pipe (inlet)
(1) into a distributor (2) and from there into two
individually blockable solids separation reservoirs
(3) arranged next to each other. These solids sep-
aration reservoirs (3) are arranged in front of the
pressure ports of the pump units (4) and "filter
out" "impermissibly" large solids via a separation
system (depending on the ball passage of the rele-
vant pump) in the solids separation reservoir (3).
10
In this way, only "pre-cleaned sewage" flows
through the idle pump (4) to reach the common
collection reservoir (5). When a particular water
level in the collection reservoir (5) has been
reached, a filling level control initiates the pump-
ing process of a pump unit (4) in each case. The
pump units run in alternation; parallel operation is
not permitted. The volume flow of the working
pump (4) opens the separation system of the
solids separation reservoir (3). As a result of the
flow rate, it conveys all solids remaining in the
solids separation reservoir (3) into the receding
dirty water pressure line and cleans the reservoir
with the "pre-cleaned" sewage. During this pro-
cedure, the affected solids separation reservoir (3)
is kept closed on the inflow side via a shut-off ball
(floatable) (6).
6.2.1 Emergency spillway
An emergency spillway comes into effect as soon
as the water rises higher than the top of the inlet
pipe. In this case, the inlet into the solids reser-
voirs is automatically closed by the shut-off balls.
The sewage pumping station is connected directly
to an "emergency spillway" between the inlet pipe
and the collection reservoir. The water is pumped
"unfiltered" directly into the collection reservoir.
An emergency spillway works in essence without
lasting detriment to the functioning of the pump-
ing station. However, it must be registered via the
filling level sensors and displayed as an alarm mes-
sage (flooding). If the emergency spillway comes
into effect frequently, the cause for it must be
found and the manufacturer consulted.
NOTE: If the sewage is frequently circulated
via the "emergency spillway", the "emergency
spillway" and the collection reservoir must be
cleaned monthly. The alarm message must not be
moved up.
6.2.2 Reservoir flooding
The emergency spillway can cause reservoir
flooding. This takes place outside the normal
operating condition (e.g. power failure).
Reservoir flooding:
• System type MG/MS - 1.5 m above inlet floor
• System type FG/FS - 5.0 m above inlet floor
For the specified value "inlet floor", the reservoir
flooding must not last longer than 3 hours, or else
damage can occur to the collection reservoir.

6.2.3 Explosion protection

For the manufactured sewage pumping stations in
PEHD for the types TA – MS/FS – MG/FG, with
closed collection reservoirs and dry-installed
pumps, the collection reservoir can be used in
ex-zone 1 provided:
• the collection room charging and discharging
pipes are properly led outside.
• the ventilation pipe with gauze and rain cap is
installed at least 60 cm above the relevant ter-
rain.
