WARNING: WAIT ABOUT 30 SECONDS BEFORE STARTING
UP THE VEHICLE, TO ALLOW THE BATTERY TO RECEIVE
AN INITIAL CHARGE. KEEP THE IGNITION KEY IN THE
START POSITION FOR JUST THE TIME STRICTLY NECES-
SARY TO START THE VEHICLE.
Avoid exceeding 5 s, as prolonged connection of the starter motor
without pauses will blow the fuse, or cause a thermal trip.
The battery charger selector switch must be set to Start before
turning the ignition key; once the engine has started, the selector
must be returned to the zero position.
If the engine requires a power higher than that delivered by the
battery charger, or if it fails to start because the battery is very dis-
charged, put the battery on rapid (boost) charge for 10-15 min-
utes.
To start a diesel engine, pre-heat the glowplugs before set-
ting the battery charger in the starting position, otherwise the
glowplugs will damaged.
The table below defines the maximum sizes of battery that can be
started by the battery charger in normal or extreme conditions:

* Extreme conditions: battery very discharged, with an outside
