TROUBLESHOOTING AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

and with §§5a, 5b AbfG). Appropriate protective
clothing must be worn for cleaning and mainte-
nance jobs. This is to be disposed of in accor-
dance with waste code TA 524 02 and EC Direc-
tive 91/689/EEC.
Also observe the local laws and regulations!
• Only lubricants expressly recommended by the
manufacturer may be used. Oils and lubricants
should not be mixed.
• Only use genuine parts made by the manufac-
turer.

8.1. Lubricants

The motor is filled with non-toxic white oil, which
is potentially biodegradable. Checks to the oil and
filling level must be made by the manufacturer.

8.2. Maintenance intervals

Overview of the maintenance intervals needed:
8.2.1. Before initial start-up or after a longer period
of storage
• Check the insulation resistance
• Functional test of safety and monitoring devices

8.3. Maintenance tasks

8.3.1. Checking the insulation resistance
To check the insulation resistance, the power
supply cable must be disconnected. The resis-
tance can then be measured with an insulation
tester (measuring voltage = 500 V). The following
values may not be exceeded:
• For the initial start-up: The insulation
r esistance may not be less than 20 MΩ.
• For further measurements: The value must
be greater than 2 MΩ.
if the insulation resistance is too low, mois-
ture may have penetrated the cable and/or the
motor. Do not connect the pump. Consult the
manufacturer.
8.3.2. Functional test of safety and monitoring
devices
Motor protection relays, overvoltage relays and
other tripping devices can generally be triggered
manually for test purposes.
9. Troubleshooting and possible solutions
In order to prevent damage or injury while rec-
tifying unit faults, the following points must be
observed in all cases:
• Only attempt to rectify a fault if you have quali-
fied staff. This means that each job must be car-
ried out by trained specialist staff. For example,
electrical work must be performed by a trained
electrician.
• Always secure the unit against an accidental
restart by disconnecting it from the mains.
Take appropriate safety precautions.
• Always have a second person on hand to ensure
that the unit has been switched off for safety.

• Secure moving parts to prevent injury.
• Unsanctioned changes to the unit are made at the
operator's own risk and release the manufacturer
from any warranty obligations.
9.1. Alarm messages on the display of the external
frequency converter (version "HS-ECP")
Fig. 11.: Alarm messages

Dry operation

Excessive leakage

Inverter error
The alarm messages must always be confirmed
with the "Reset" button on the frequency con-
verter. Errors must also be confirmed even when
the system is automatically restarted with the
auto-reset function. This is for providing clear
information to the user.
Dry running: Is displayed when the system is
1.
switched off because the water is low. If the
"auto-reset function" is activated, the system
is automatically restarted according to the set
intervals.
2.
Excessive leakage: Is displayed when the system
is started frequently in short intervals. There is
therefore probably a leak within the system. It can
only be switched back on once the error has been
confirmed!
Before confirming, check that there is no leak
in the system. The frequent starts can damage
the pump!
You can switch off the monitor if there is no
leakage and normal operation is still not possible
(see the settings for the operating parameters).
You must then observe the information about
the maximum starts per hour and not exceed
this value!
inverter error: Is displayed when there is an error
3.
due to overvoltage, undervoltage or increased
temperature. The system is automatically restart-
ed after 3 minutes.
if this error is shown, the system must be
checked by an electrician. if this error occurs
frequently, the system could be damaged!
Short circuit: Is displayed when there is a short
4.
circuit at the motor connection in the frequency
converter (motor). This can be caused by faulty
cable insulation, a faulty motor or water getting
in. This error can only be reset by disconnection
from the mains.
ELECTRiCAL hazard!
Electrical current can cause fatal injuries if not
handled correctly! if this error is displayed,
the connection must be checked by an elec-
trician and repaired accordingly.
