Special Maintenance Work

Leak tests must be repeated after maintenance work and/or after
replacing components.
Regular maintenance and service as well as inspections prior to using
the X-plore 6000 are very important to ensure safe use of the full face
mask. This makes it absolutely necessary to observe the maintenance
intervals (see page 21).
Replacing the lens
• Mask with metal lens frame: Grip the hexagonal nuts and unscrew
the screws.
• Mask with plastic lens frame: Unscrew the screws. Prise the lens
frame apart with a screwdriver at the connecting points, then pull it
off to the top and bottom.
• Remove the support if necessary, see "Replacing the facepiece
connector".
• Detach the old lens from its rubber frame.
• Insert a new lens, first in the upper half and then in the lower half of
the rubber frame.
The centre marks on the lens should be aligned with the seam on
the facepiece.
NOTE
For masks approved for use in firefighting
applications (class 3), only use lenses marked with
the letter »F« (Fire service). The »F« is marked at the
top of the lens.
• Draw the rubber frame over the edge of the lens on the right and
left.
• Moisten the outside of the rubber frame and the inside of the lens
frame with soap solution.
• Fit first the upper, then the lower lens frame.
• Fit the support if necessary.
20
• Screw the clamping screws into the hexagonal nuts and tighten
until the gap between the clamp lobes is between 3 and 0.5 mm.
• Mask with plastic lens frame: Insert and tighten the screws.
Replacing the facepiece connector
• Draw the nose cup out of the groove in the screw ring.
• Use a screw driver to pry open the connector clamp.
• Remove the connector clamp, sliding ring and support.
• Draw the facepiece connector out of the mask body.
• Insert the speech diaphragm and exhalation and inhalation valves
into the new mask connector, and fit the connector so that the
centre-marks of the mask connector and mask body line up.
• Mount slide ring and new connector clamp. Attach the hook to
ensure the tightest possible fit of the connector clamp.
• Push support between connector clamp and slide ring, then attach
it to the lower lens frame and align (figure G).
• Compress the nose on the connector clamp with pliers R 53 239
until the facepiece connector is securely located in the mask body.
• Attach nose cup.
Replacing the valve discs on the nose cup valves
• Pull out the old valve disc towards the inside.
• Insert the stud of the new disc into the hole from inside, and pull it
towards the lens until the undercut of the stud is visible.
The valve discs should make even contact with the inside surface.
Replacing the speech diaphragm and O-ring
• Draw the nose cup out of the groove in the screw ring.
• Unscrew the screw ring with socket wrench R 26 817.
• Turn the socket wrench over and carefully insert it in the holes of
the grille, taking care not to damage the foil on the diaphragm.
• Turn the speech diaphragm to release it and remove it (figure H).
• Remove the O-ring from the connector with seal extractor
R 21 519. Test the speech diaphragm and O-ring and replace if
necessary. Attach nose cup.
Replacing the exhalation valve disc
• see "Visual inspection of exhalation valve" on page 19.
• Replace protective cap so that it engages.
