Function Inspection with a UV Test Lamp

1. Switch on the test lamp and direct the light beam onto the flame detector from a distance of
about 3 m.
2. The flame detector must trigger within approx. 5 seconds (red alarm indicator).
3. Check display of the triggered detector at the fire alarm control panel.
4. Reset the triggered flame detector.
5. The function inspection is now finished.

10.4 Self-monitoring

A self-test is regularly carried out internally within the detector, during which the most important
functions are monitored:
supply voltage
•
functioning of the optical channels via integrated UV emitter
•
integrity of the memory unit in the microcontroller
•
functioning of the integrated analogue to digital converter
•
compliance with permissible application temperature of the detector
•
functioning and position of the DIP switch
•
If the self-monitoring process finds an error the green operating display no longer flashes and
the yellow interference display is continuously lit.
When using a UV test lamp, never look into the light source or direct the light
beam at other people, animals or reflective surfaces.

10.5 Cleaning of the Optics

Cleaning of the optics must take place in consideration of the ambient conditions. In critical
ambient conditions, it may be necessary to significantly reduce the listed maintenance intervals.
1. Turn the protective basket anti-clockwise and remove it from the mount. When using tools,
take care not to damage any components.
2. Soak a cotton cloth (pure natural fibres without additives, as far as possible) with isopropyl
alcohol.
3. Carefully use the cloth to clean the optics from the outside as well as both sides of the
protective basket until no dirt or grime can be seen.
4. Wipe again with a clean cloth and some isopropyl alcohol.
5. Rub dry with a clean, dry cotton cloth.
6. Place the protective basket in the mount and turn clockwise until it stops.
7. Perform a function inspection.
