False alarm sources

The flame detector should not be used in areas where disturbances that could lead to a false
alarm by the detector are expected. Possible disturbances are all UV light sources, such as
oxyacetylene and arc welding, some halogen lamps, fluorescent tubes, light bulbs, energy-saving
bulbs, LED flash lamps, high voltage discharges, including on high-voltage lines and sparks produced
on overhead contact lines. Highly reflective metal surfaces, such as machine parts and glass
bottles, should not be located within the detection area of the flame detector. These surfaces
reflect UV-C radiation very well and could lead to a false alarm.
In critical monitoring areas, the two-alarm dependency (TAD) should be configured to avoid
false alarms.
In planning the installation, the standards and regulations for fire alarm
systems as well as national and local requirements and laws must be
observed!
Operation with the ESSER FACPs is carried out exclusively via esserbus
transponders for UniVario (Part No. 808623.10).
The external power supply of the transponder is provided by a 12 V DC or 24 V DC
PSU (e.g. Part No. 805683) or a voltage converter (Part No. 781337).
For flame detectors that react to the same wavelength range, the alarm
status of a single flame detector may not lead directly to issuing of an alarm.
For this reason, planning and installation with the two-alarm dependency
(TAD) is required, and the flame detectors must be situated with different
detection angles, such as on two opposing walls.
§
Observe country-specific standards and regulations as well as local requirements
for the system design of Fire Alarm Systems.
All given standards and guidelines in this documentation relates to the valid and
up-to-date edition.
