c) Setting the Shock Absorbers
B
The spring-pre-tension can be adjusted by turning a knurled screw (A) at the upper end of the shock absorber.
The shock absorbers at the vehicle's front and rear vehicle axles can be mounted in different positions at the lower
transverse link (B) and at the damper bridge (C).
Always set the shock absorbers for one axle evenly (at the left and right wheels of the front or rear axle). Otherwise,
driving behaviour will be influenced negatively.
If the setting is too stiff, the vehicle will jump even on a small unevenness, and the wheels will lose touch with the
ground. This will cause a lower acceleration. When the setting is too soft, the vehicle will rebound too strongly, and the
chassis will touch the ground.
Professional drivers can change the vehicle's deflection behaviour by using springs with a different hardness
or by filling the shock absorbers with a dampening oil of a different viscosity.
Just as with a "real" car, the model vehicle's shock absorbers (or the rubber seals in them) are a wear part. If oil is
running from the shock absorbers (e.g. lower transverse link strongly oiled, dripping traces), the seals or shock absorbers
must be replaced.
