12. The first take-off

a) Practical flying tips
• Even if the model can fly in narrow spaces later, for the first test flights, we recommend choosing a
sufficiently large and free space.
• Place yourself exactly behind your helicopter. As long as you can see your model from behind, the
latter will react to the control commands right and left exactly as you see it. Whereas, if the cockpit
of the model points towards you, it responds directly opposed to your steering on the transmitter.

b) Preparations for take-off

• First, start the transmitter.
• Connect the freshly charged flight battery and
the receiver/control unit with the connector
protected against polarity reversal (1).
• Then, switch the sliding switch on the receiver/
control unit (2) from the "Off" position to the
"ON" position.
• The model is now ready for take-off.

c) Setting the tail rotor speed

Push the left control stick forward slowly and gradually. It is normal that the model shakes a bit more
at the beginning when the rotor blades are not yet optimally aligned with each other.
Since the tail rotor does not yet have the optimal effect due to the low speed, the model can very
easily turn around the yaw axis on smooth grounds.
In the second speed stage, these effects do not arise anymore since the rotors have a sufficient speed/
centrifugal force.
Now, push the control stick further forward until the helicopter starts to hover. At the beginning, try to
hover only at a low height to get used to the steering responses of the model and, if necessary, to be
able to land the model again fast and safely.
