The installation of the smoke detector must be in the middle of the ceiling.
Installation in a pointed ceiling must not be done on the highest
point of the ceiling as at such a point an airflow takes place. An
ideal installation point would be on a roof beam or bracket.
An air accumulation occurs near walls and in particular in the corners of rooms
as well as in pointed ceilings. Such features hold off ascending smoke. For
that reason, the smoke detector needs a longer time to identifiy the smoke
and to set off the alarm.
In normal rooms, the smoke detector must be installed at least 60 cm away
from corners. Radiators, window sills, windows or furniture affect the
circulation of air. The best position is to mount it on the ceiling in the middle
of the room.
