b) Analogue bargraph
The analogue bargraph has 42 segments. It has a slightly faster
response than the digital display. This makes it easier to ident-
ify trends in measured values than on an analogue multimeter
but without the latter's mechanical disadvantages (damping
effect of measuring element).
If the measuring range is overshot, "OL" (for "overload") is
displayed. The direction arrow on the right of the bargraph
flashes and an audible warning signal is produced (there is no
audible signal in the case of resistance measurement, diode
testing, temperature measurement - "OL" without tempera-
ture probe).
5.3.5 Display details and symbols relating to operating modes
a) Diode test
The value that is displayed during a diode test is the conduc-
ting-state voltage with a test current of approximately 1 mA.
In this case the measuring range is 0 to approx. 2.0 V.
b) Continuity test
The continuity test can be used to audibly and visually check
the continuity of absolutely dead cables, plug-and-socket
connections or fuses. There is an audible signal if the resistance
is less than 50 Ω.
c) Negative polarity
A "-" symbol is displayed in front of the measured value if
measuring leads are connected the wrong way round or if the
polarity is negative.
d) TEMP temperature measurement
This function can be used to measure temperatures in the
range from 0 ºC to +1000 ºC by using the optional type K tem-
perature probe.

e) „R-H" (= Range Hold = manual range selection)
When this button is pressed once, the symbol "R-H" (for Range
Hold) appears on the display and the "auto range" (= auto-
matic range selection) function is no longer active. Each sub-
sequent press on this button increases the measuring range in
the case of voltage measurement or decreases the measuring
range in the case of resistance measurement. The change in
range can be recognised firstly by the change in the unit of
measurement and secondly by the position of the decimal
point. To return to automatic range selection, press the "R-H"
button for longer than roughly 1 s. The "R-H" symbol then dis-
appears from the display.
Warning!
This special function can only be used for measurement of direct
and alternating voltage and for resistance measurements.
f) hFE transistor test
The parameter hFE is measured during the transistor test.
g) CAP capacitance measurement
The two capacitance measuring ranges allow measurements
on discharged capacitors of several pF (= picofarad) in the 4 nF
range and up to 400 nF max. in the 400 nF range.
h) Battery replacement indication
The 2 alkaline 1.5 V micro batteries used in this measuring
appliance have an average endurance of roughly 100 to 150
hours. Approximately 8 hours before the battery becomes
"flat", the battery replacement symbol "Lbt" appears on the
display. A battery check is performed between each individual
measurement cycle.
