Maintenance

The operation of redox measuring electrodes requires periodical maintenance and
calibration intervals. The measuring electrode should be inspected for deposits from
time to time. If deposits have formed on the measuring electrode these must be
removed, as accurate measurements are otherwise not guaranteed anymore.
The following agents are effective when cleaning the measuring electrode:
Agents that contain tensid can be used for fatty and oily dirt.

Limescale and metal hydroxides can be removed with diluted hydrochloric acid

(3%).
A cleaning agent mixture of diluted hydrochloric acid (3%) and thiocarbamide

(conventional) can be used for deposits that contain sulphide (e.g. in the area of
sewage treatment plants).
Media that contain protein (measurements in the food area) can be removed by
-
means of a cleaning agent mixture of diluted hydrochloric acid (0.1 molar) and
pepsin (conventional).
A mixture containing hydrogen fluoride, nitric acid (10%) and ammonium fluoride
-
(50 g/l) can be used as a regeneration solution for very slow pH electrodes.
