If the planks are narrow enough perhaps you could use a table circular saw or
a band saw to even out the lumps or bumps before planing.
If this is not a practical possibility, plane the planks until they are in line with
the sides of the board. Turn the planks and plane them until they are in line with
the middle of the dents. When you have planed the planks use a table circular saw
or levelling plane to make the corners right-angled.
If the wood gets stuck in the plane, increase the cutter depth by approximately
1 mm (1 turn of the crank.)
Rollers
The plane is equipped with two rollers
on the top making it easier to manage
the wood when you want to plane a lot of
planks at a time.
Planing glued wood
Warning!
Glued wood must take a day to dry before it can be planed. Otherwise the wood may
split during planing and cause a kickback, which could lead to serious injury.
The plane is intended for solid wood. Other material such as glue may disfigure or
damage the planing irons. If you have to plane glued wood, do the following:
When you glue the pieces of wood together, wipe off all residue glue with a wet
cloth because then there will no longer be any glue left to dry on the wood surface.
Allow the glue then to take a day to dry. Check before planing whether there is any
glue left and remove it with a scraper, chisel or sand it away.
Set the cutter to a smaller planing depth. When you have finished planing
the glued wood, pull out the plug from the socket and check whether the planing
irons are in one piece or if there are burrs or other damage.
