Fault
Wirefeeder motor always runs at full
speed
Wirefeed speed deviates from the pro-
grammed values shown in the Table
After the torch trigger is pressed in open
circuit, the wirefeed speed is too slow
After the torch trigger is pressed, the
wirefeed speed reaches max. 22m/min.
Gas continues to flow even after the torch
trigger is released
Remote control does not function
Wire burns onto weld pool after end of
welding
Wire burns onto contact tube after end of
welding
Welding current on the gas nozzle
Welding torch overheats - even though
duty cycle has not been exceeded (only
applies to water-cooled machines)
Cause
Command value is always 'max.'
Motor controller receives no actual speed value
V-groove rollers have been mounted
Wirefeeder motor is running at the pre-set soft-
start speed
Wrong EPROM in the power source
DIP switch S6 or S7 is not on correct setting
Gas solenoid valve is defective or dirty
Motor controller board NMI4 is defective
Wrong remote-control unit
Remote-control unit or r.-c. cable are faulty
Wirefeeder motor is not being braked; carbon
brushes are worn out
Motor controller board NMI4 is defective
Burn-back time set too long
Accumulations of spatter in the gas nozzle
(especially in out-of-position welding)
Insulation piece or spatter guard not mounted,
or else defective
Not enough coolant in FK71 cooling unit
Forward and return-flow hoses wrong way round
Coolant circuit blocked or hoses kinked
21
Remedy
Check interconnecting cable
Check 37-pole control plug and interconnec-
ting cable from power source to wirefeeder
The programmed values are for trapezoidal
or semicircular-grooved feed rollers. If you
use V-groove rollers, you must correct the
arc-length
Wirefeed speed only increases once the weld-
ing wire has hit the workpiece. To determine
the actual wirefeed speed, you must press
the wire-inch button.
Check EPROM
Check DIP switch S6 or S7
Clean or change the solenoid valve
Change motor controller board NMI4
Only use TR34 T.I.M.E. or TP4-SP remote-
control units
Disconnect remote-control cable from wire-
feeder and check command values (m/min.)
Measure motor voltage. If motor voltage is
present, the motor must be changed
Change motor controller board NMI4
Use the burn-back time correction dial to
shorten the burn-back time
Detach the gas nozzle and clean the contact
tube, contact tip and gas nozzle - spray with
Fronius anti-stick agent if necessary
Fit a new insulation piece if necessary
Top up with coolant
Connect the coolant hoses the right way round
Undo the screw cap of the water reservoir and
check the return flow
