START-UP

- Unplug the machine from the mains
- Shift the mains switch
to the "O" position
- Dismount the MIG/MAG welding torch
- Plug the current plug of the TIG welding torch into the
socket and turn it clockwise to latch it
- Plug the current plug of the earthing cable into the
and turn it clockwise to latch it
- Tool up the welding torch (see welding-torch instruction manual)
- Make an earthing connection to the workpiece
- Attach a pressure regulator to the shielding-gas cylinder
- Connect the gas-hose to the pressure regulator
- Open the valve on the gas cylinder
- Variant I: Connect the TP 4-SP remote-control unit to socket
T.I.M.E. 30 wirefeeder
- Variant II: Connect the remote-control combination TP 4-SP, signal
distributor and TR 52-1 to the socket on the T.I.M.E. 30 wirefeeder
Warning! As soon as you shift the mains switch
position, the tungsten electrode becomes LIVE. Make sure that
when this happens, the tungsten electrode does not touch any
electrically conducting or earthed parts such as e.g. the workpiece,
machine housing etc.
- Plug the machine into the mains
- Shift the mains switch
to the "I" position
- 'Ready' indicator
lights up
- Open the gas cut-off valve on the torch and/or press the torch trigger
and set the desired gas flow rate on the pressure regulator
- Set the arc-force dial
on the TP 4-SP remote-control unit to a scale
value of "0"
- Set the Hot-Start dial
on the TP 4-SP remote-control unit to a scale
value of "0"
- Select the welding range with range-switch
- Set the welding current with the welding-current dial
SP remote-control unit or set a current-limitation as described in

Variant II

- Place the gas nozzle on the ignition location so that there is a gap of
2 - 3 mm between the tungsten tip and the workpiece (see Fig. 20a)
- Gradually tilt up the welding torch until the tungsten tip touches the
workpiece (see Fig. 20b)
- Raise the torch and pivot it into the normal position - the arc ignites
(see Fig. 20c)
- Start welding
a) Fit gas nozzle
