b) Batteries and accumulators
Operation of the smoke alarm with accumulators should be
avoided. Through the low voltage (accumulator = 1.2V, battery =
1.5V) the smoke alarm could possibly recognise a flat battery
even in the case of a fully charged accumulator. There would then
be a short alarm tone every 48 seconds and the red light-emitting
diode would flash every 48 seconds.
Therefore only use high-quality alkaline batteries.
• Batteries/accumulators must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries.
• Do not leave the batteries lying around in the open; there is risk of their being
swallowed by children or domestic animals. If swallowed, contact a doctor
immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/accumulators can cause caustic burning if
they come into contact with the skin. For this reason you should use suitable
protective gloves.
• Make sure that batteries/accumulators are not be short-circuited or thrown
into a fire, There is risk of explosion!
• Never take the batteries/accumulators apart!
• Normal batteries may not be recharged. There is risk of explosion!
• If not used for a longer period (e.g. in case of storage), remove the inserted
batteries. In this manner you can avoid damage due to leaking, old batteries.
For safety reasons, the housing cannot be locked without
batteries!
