7. Battery safety information

Although the use of batteries is part of our everyday lives nowadays, batteries still present
numerous safety hazards.
In particular with LiPo/LiIon rechargeable batteries with their high energy content (in comparison
with conventional NiCd or NiMH rechargeable batteries), various regulations must be observed as
otherwise there is danger of explosion and fire.
Thus, it is imperative that you observe the following general information and safety notes when
handling batteries and rechargeable batteries.
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries lying around as they might be accidentally swallowed by children or pets. Seek
immediate medical advice if a battery is swallowed.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must never be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into fire. There is
a risk of explosion!
• Leaking or damaged batteries can cause burns if they come into contact with your skin, therefore always
use suitable protective gloves to avoid burning your skin.
• Liquids leaking from batteries/rechargeable batteries are very chemically aggressive. Objects or sur-
faces coming into contact with these liquids could be severely damaged. Therefore, store batteries in a
suitable location that is not prone to damage.
• Do not recharge normal batteries. This may cause a fire or explosion! Only charge rechargeable batter-
ies which are intended for this purpose; use suitable rechargeable battery chargers. Batteries (1.5 V) are
meant to be used once only and must be disposed of when empty.
• Please observe the correct polarity when inserting batteries or connecting the rechargeable battery pack
(observe positive/+ and negative/-). Wrong polarity may damage the transmitter, the model glider and the
rechargeable batteries. There is also a risk of fire and explosion.
• Always exchange the entire set of batteries. Do not mix full batteries with half-full ones. Always use bat-
teries of the same type and manufacturer.
• Never mix disposable batteries with rechargeable batteries. Therefore only use high-quality alkaline
batteries for the remote control transmitter.
• If the device is not used for a longer period of time (e.g. storage), take the inserted batteries out of the
remote control to avoid damage from leaking batteries.
• Unplug the receiver battery when you are not using the model glider (e.g. during transport or storage).
Otherwise, the receiver battery may be fully discharged and thus destroyed/unusable!
• Only charge intact and undamaged batteries. If the external insulation of the rechargeable battery is
damaged or if the rechargeable battery is warped or bloated, it must not be charged. In this case there
is serious danger of fire and explosion!
• Never damage the outer shell of the receiver battery, do not tear the foil cover, do not stick sharp objects
into the receiver battery. This may cause a fire or explosion!
• Never charge the receiver battery unattended.
