Connection of Additional Hardware
Before you open the tool, take
care that it is not connected to
the power supply. The housing of the tool must be
completely voltage-free, because, otherwise, there
exists the danger of electric shock.
Please take note that the 24 V inputs 13 and the 24 V
outputs 14 are only circuit elements that are con-
structed with optocouplers for potential-free input
and output of 24 V signals. Up to 3 A can be con-
nected. The voltage for the connected consuming
device is, as a rule, supplied externally.
Loosen the sleeve 7 on the cable entrance slot 8 by
turning it in the counterclockwise direction.

Remove the maintenance cover plate 2 on the volt-
age-free EXAConnecT by unscrewing the two small
bottom Phillips screws 3. You thereby gain access
to the terminal strip 9.
Connection of a Release Button
If you want to connect a release button 21, please
take note of the operating instructions of this button.
Pass the cable 22 through the opening of the middle
left cable entrance slot 8. Connect one lead of the ca-
ble 22 to the "+24V" terminal of the direct current out-
put 15 and the other lead to a "IN+" terminal of the
24 V input 13. You may choose IN1+, IN2+, IN3+, or
IN4+.

In the EXAConnecT, connect one lead of the "GND"
terminal of the direct current output 15 to the match-
ing "IN–" terminal of the 24 V input 13. When, for ex-
ample, you have connected one lead of the cable 22
of the release button to the "IN1+" terminal of the
24 V input 13, you must then connect the internal
lead to the "IN1–" terminal.
Connection of a Barcode Scanner
Whereas the EXAConnecT has two RS422 serial in-
terfaces (COM1 and COM2), the barcode scanner
disposes over a single RS232 serial interface. There-
fore, the barcode scanner 24 can be connected only
by means of an interface converter 25 either at
COM1 11 or COM2 12 of the EXAConnecT, as de-
sired.
3 The baud rate of the RS422 interface on the
EXAConnecT can be set through software in a range
of 300 baud to 115,200 baud as well as with various
values for the data bits, parity, and stop bits. By def-
inition, hardware handshake is not provided for. The
RS422 interface has a potential-free construction.
