The chapter "Safety instructions" must be heeded!
6.1 Servicing
● The separator system must be serviced once a year by a
qualified person
1)
Alongside disposal measures, the following jobs must
be carried out:
- Check on the inner walls of the sludge trap and the
grease separator
- Functional check on the electrical devices and installa-
tions, as appropriate.
- Records of the findings and work carried out must be
kept in the operating log and evaluated.
● If present, the electro-mechanical assemblies such as
pumps, valves, shut-off devices etc. must be serviced
according to the manufacturer's instructions twice a
year.
6.2 Review (general inspection)
Before initial operation and then at regular intervals of not
longer than 5 years, the separator system must be che-
cked for proper condition and correct operation by a tech-
nical expert following complete emptying and cleaning.
At least the following points must be checked and recor-
ded:
- Dimensioning of the separator system
- State of repair and airtightness of the separator system
- Condition of the inner walls of the built-in components
and electrical devices, if appropriate

6. Maintenance

- Completeness and plausibility of records in the operating
log
- Proof of correct disposal of the contents of the separator
system removed
- Existence and completeness of the required permits and
documents (approvals, plan sewer system, operating and
servicing instructions)
A test report must be drawn up for the inspection carried
out, listing any faults found. If faults are found, they have
to be eliminated without delay.
1)
The term "qualified" is used to describe employees at
the operators or from third parties who, on account of
their training, knowledge and practical experience, can
guarantee that they carry out evaluations or tests in a
professional way in the respective field.
The qualified person can gain the knowledge required
for operating and servicing separator systems at a trai-
ning course with subsequent on-site instruction, such as
is offered by respective manufacturers, professional
associations, chambers of industry and expert organisa-
tions in the field of separator engineering.
2)
Technical experts are the employees of operator-inde-
pendent companies, experts or other institutions who
have certified specialist knowledge about the operation,
servicing and checking of separator systems. In indivi-
dual cases, these tests can be carried out in larger com-
pany units by internal experts belonging to the operators
who are independent with regard to their area of respon-
sibility and not bound by instructions, providing they
have the same qualification and technical equipment
available.
