FIRST USE

5.1 First use
Read the instruction manual carefully prior to operating the machine.
Prior to starting the machine, check if:
the steam and hot water valves are closed.
the machine is switched off.
the power cord is disconnected.
the drip tray is inserted accurately.
Now you can start up your machine:
1 Lift the water tank lid.
2 Take out the water tank and rinse it thoroughly.
3 Fill the water tank with fresh water deficient in lime, place it back into the water tank guides and close the
lid.
4 Plug the machine into an electrical outlet and turn the coffee switch on. Turn the machine on by placing
the metal switch in the upper position. The coffee boiler is now being heated and the green control lamp
will come on. In order to activate the steam boiler turn on the on/off switch for steam. The orange signal
lamp will come on. The pump fills fresh water into the steam boiler of your machine. Both boilers are
being heated.
5 As soon as water is released through the brew group, turn off the coffee switch. The coffee boiler is now
filled with water.
Since much water is used for the initial filling of the boilers, the water tank has to be refilled with water.
6 The PID-display indicates the current temperature of the coffee boiler (reg. item 3.3). Should the water in
the tank fall below a certain level, the machine will turn off automatically and the PID-display goes off.
You now have to refill fresh water. The machine will heat up automatically again.
7 If you have switched on the steam function, please wait until the pressure gauge reads a value of about
1.0 – 1.3 bars.
8 Manual boiler venting is not necessary because the PRO300 includes an anti-vacuum valve, which vents
the boiler during the heat-up phase. This venting procedure is done by way of the brew group, directly
into the drip tray. However, additionally we recommend to open up the steam valve for a short while
when the boiler pressure has been reached in order to properly vent the machine. Caution, steam
develops!
9 The machine is now operational. To always have pre-heated cups, place them on the cup warming tray
and start enjoying your coffee.
The PRO300 has a fuse to prevent the machine from overfilling.
It is possible that the machine does not heat up when using it for the first time or when
dispensing large quantities of water through the hot water valve. In this case please switch the
machine off and on again.

USE OF THE MACHINE

6.1 Preparation of the machine

The switched off machine is to be placed into operation as follows:
Water tank machine or machine in use with water tank
1 Make sure there is enough water in the tank.
2 Now turn the machine on (the metal switch in the upper position).
3 Please wait until the desired coffee-, i.e. steam temperature, has been reached (value indicated on the
PID-display).
4 In general, the machine will be heated up in about 5 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature.
5 The machine is now ready for use.
6 Prior to preparing your first coffee, insert the filter holder and activate the coffee switch in order to
release hot water and heat the filter holder to an optimal temperature.
