5. PERFORMANCE OF MEASUREMENTS

The two-pole voltage tester has two handles (3 and 5), a connection cable and an LC display (9).
Always hold the voltage tester so that you can look vertically onto the display. The display can be
impaired by strong lighting. For DC measurements, the test prod (1) is the plus pole, the test prod (11)
the minus pole.
Before any voltage test, check reliable function of the device with a known voltage
source. If a meter's LC display does not indicate anything, power down the voltage
tester. A defective voltage tester must not be used. Operation with empty or without
batteries is not permitted. The provisions on working with electrical systems must be
observed.
The following measuring functions are available:
a) Self Test
Touch the test prods to each other for testing. The test buzzer must sound clearly and the display must
be at approx. "000". If the LC display does not light up or lights up only weakly, the batteries must be
replaced.
If the device does not work with new batteries, it must be protected against incorrect use.

b) Voltage Measuring (DC)

When applying the test prods to direct current within the rated voltage range, the voltage is displayed in
volt and "DCV" appears in the display. If a negative voltage is applied to the test prod "L1" (11), a "-"
(minus) is displayed before the value. As of a voltage of approx. 35 V, the potentially fatal voltage is dis-
played by an LED flashing behind the display and an acoustic signal.
c) Voltage Measurement
When applying the test prods to alternating current within the rated voltage range, the voltage is dis-
played in volt and "ACV" appears in the display. As of a voltage of approx. 35 V, the potentially fatal volt-
age is displayed by an LED flashing behind the display and an acoustic signal.
