WARNING
WARNING
REMS Detect B is an electronic bore hole centre locating device for determining the
in and out centres of through-bores and for automatic display of the material thick-
ness ≤ 120 cm.
All other uses are not for the intended purpose and are therefore prohibited.
1.1 Scope of Supply
REMS Detect B: Electronic bore hole centre locating device consisting of a
transmitter and receiver, 6 batteries 1.5 V, AAA, LR03, 100 adhesion points,
quick-start instructions, plastic case.

2. Commissioning
For using the REMS Detect B Transmitter / Receiver, the respective latest
REMS sales documents apply, see also www.rems.de → Downloads → Product
Catalogue, Brochures. Subject to change and error.
2.1 Inserting the Batteries
Open the cover (Fig. 2) by turning the screw. Open the flap of the battery
compartment and insert three 1.5 V, AAA, LR03 batteries, paying attention
to the position of the plus and minus poles. Press the flap shut and close by
turning the screw. Always change all of the batteries at the same time.
CAUTION
CAUTION
Never charge the batteries. Always use 3 batteries of the same type per device.
Do not use rechargeable batteries.
NOTICE
NOTICE
Check the batteries before use. Batteries that have not been used for some
time can damage the locating device. Therefore, always remove the batteries
before storing. Make sure that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity.

NOTICE
NOTICE
Metal in the material can influence the locating.
Remove the Transmitter / Receiver from the wall before drilling. Drilling through
the marking openings can damage the Transmitter / Receiver.
3.1 Locating the Bore Hole Centre
Position the transmitter with adhesion points on the rear surface (Fig. 5). Switch
on the transmitter and receiver. Move the receiver slowly over the opposite
surface of the transmitter (Fig. 6). Red LED arrows show the position to which
the transmitter must be moved. Green LEDs indicate the ideal drilling position,
i.e. when in and out points are opposite each other. Mark the drilling position
with a pen (Fig. 7). Remove REMS Detect B and drill the hole.
3.2 Determining the Bore Hole Centre for Angled Bores
Using two identical tapered supports enables a precision through-bore for
corner drilling. The angle of the tapered supports must match the intended
drilling angle.
Place one tapered support each under the transmitter and receiver. Make sure
that the transmitter and receiver are aligned parallel to each other. Mark the
drilling position with a pen (Fig. 7), remove REMS Detect B and drill the hole
(Fig. 8).
NOTICE
NOTICE
Different angles in the tapered supports can lead to wrong results. Therefore,
always use identical tapered supports.
3.3 Determining the Position
Fix the transmitter to the surface at distance d (Fig. 9). Determine the position
of the transmitter with the receiver (Fig. 10). From here, transfer the measured
distance d in the direction of the intended drilling position (Fig. 11).
4. Maintenance
Notwithstanding the maintenance listed below, send in the locating device to
an authorised REMS after-sales facility at least once a year for inspection and
repeated inspection of electrical equipment. In Germany, such periodic testing
of electrical devices should be performed in accordance with DIN VDE 0701-
0702 and also prescribed for mobile electrical equipment according to the
accident prevention rules DGUV, regulation 3 "Electrical Systems and Equip-
ment". In addition, the respective national safety provisions, rules and regula-
tions valid for the application site must be considered and observed.
4.1 Maintenance
CAUTION
CAUTION
Remove the batteries before performing maintenance work!
Clean the locating device regularly, especially if it has not been used for some
time. Store the locating device in a clean, dry and frost-free place.
Clean plastic parts (e.g. housing) only with REMS CleanM machine cleaner
(Art. No. 140119) or a mild soap and a damp cloth. Do not use household
cleaners. These often contain chemicals which can damage the plastic parts.
Never use petrol, turpentine, thinner or similar products for cleaning.
Make sure that liquids never get onto or inside the tracking device. Never
immerse the tracking device in liquid.
