General Power Tool Safety Warnings
WARNING
WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this device. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead to elec-
tric shock, fire and/or severe injuries.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
1) Workplace safety
a) Keep your workplace clean and well lit. Untidiness and unlit work areas can
lead to accidents.
b) Do not work with the device in an explosive environment in which there
are inflammable liquids, gases or dusts. Devices produce sparks which can
ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep the devices out of the rain and wet. Penetration of water into a device
increases the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not misuse the connecting cable to carry or hang up the device or to
pull the plug out of the socket. Keep the connecting cable away from heat,
oil, sharp edges or moving tool parts. Damaged or knotted connecting cables
increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When working with a device outdoors only use extension cables which are
suitable for outdoor work. Use of an extension cable suitable for outdoor work
reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If use of the device in a wet environment is unavoidable, use a fault current
circuit breaker. The use of a fault current circuit breaker reduces the risk of
electric shock.
2) Safety of persons
a) Be cautious, pay attention to what you are doing and use a device reason-
ably and responsibly. Do not use a device when you are tired or under the
influence of drugs, alcohol or medicines. Just one careless moment when
using the device can lead to serious injury.
b) Wear personal safety equipment and always wear safety glasses. Wearing
personal safety equipment such as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, a safety
helmet or ear protectors, depending on the type and application of the device,
reduces the risk of injuries.
c) Avoid accidental operation. Make sure that the device is switched off before
connecting it to the power supply, picking up or carrying it. Carrying the
electrical device with your finger on the switch or connecting it to the power supply
switched on can lead to accidents.
d) Avoid abnormal postures. Make sure that you have a firm footing and
keep your balance at all times. This gives you better control of the device in
unexpected situations.
e) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or
long hair can get caught in moving parts.
f) Do not give yourself a false sense of security and do not ignore the safety
rules for devices even when you are very familiar with the device after
frequent use. Careless actions can lead to serious injuries within fractions of a
second.
3) Use and handling of the device
a) Do not overload the device. Use the device suitable for the work you are
doing. You can work better and safer in the specified power range with the suit-
able device.
b) Do not use a device with a defective switch. A device which cannot be switched
on and off is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Keep devices out of reach of children when they are not in use. Do not
allow persons to use the tool who are not familiar with it or have not read these
instructions. Devices are dangerous when used by inexperienced persons.
d) Handle the device with care. Check that the moving parts are working
perfectly and do not jam, that no parts are broken or damaged and that the
function of the device is not impaired. Have damaged parts repaired before
using the device. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained devices.
e) Use the device, accessories and tools, etc. according to these instructions.
Take the working conditions and activity being performed into considera-
tion. The use of devices for purposes for which they are not intended can lead
to dangerous situations.
f) Keep handles and gripping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
Slippery handles and gripping surfaces do not allow safe operation and control
of the device in unforeseeable situations.
Safety instructions for tracking devices
WARNING
WARNING
Read all the safety notices, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this locating device. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead
to electric shock, fire and/or severe injuries.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
● Please bear in mind that electromagnetic interferences and metal objects
can lead to faulty locating when determining the through-bore and to indi-
cation of a false material thickness. Opening an incorrectly located position
will cause property damages.
● Check the respective position for concealed supply lines with a locating
device before drilling. Drilling can damage or sever gas or water pipes, electric
cables or other objects. Damaged gas pipes can cause explosions. Damaged
water pipes and electric cables can damage property or cause electric shocks.
● The adhesion points are not suitable for permanent fixing or for all surfaces.
There is a danger of injury or risk of property damage by falling of the Detect B.
● Do not use the locating device if it is damaged. There is a danger of accident.
● Children and persons who, due to their physical, sensory or mental abili-
ties or lack of experience and knowledge are unable to operate the locating
device safely may not use this locating device without supervision or
instruction by a responsible person. Otherwise there is a risk of operating
errors and injuries.
Handling electromagnetic radiation
● Local operating restrictions, for example, in hospitals, in aircraft, at fuel
stations or in the vicinity of persons with heart pacemakers must be
observed. There is a possibility of dangerous influencing or interference of and
by electronic devices.
● Check the measuring results repeatedly when using in the vicinity of high
voltages or in high alternating electromagnetic fields. This environment can
influence the measuring accuracy.
CAUTION
CAUTION
Do not use other REMS Detect B's within a distance of 10 m.
NOTICE
NOTICE
Do not use any electronic transmitters or electric motors nearby.
Safety instructions for batteries
WARNING
WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this device. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead to elec-
tric shock, fire and/or severe injuries.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
● Protect batteries against heat, sunlight, fire, moisture and wet. There is a
risk of explosion and fire.
● Do not use batteries in areas where there is a risk of explosion and in the
vicinity of inflammable gases, solvents, dust, fumes, liquids for example.
There is a risk of explosion and fire.
● Do not open batteries and never modify their construction. There is a risk
of explosion and fire due to short-circuiting.
● Do not use batteries with damaged housings or damaged contacts. Damage
to or improper use of batteries can cause fumes to escape. The fumes can irritate
the respiratory tracts. Let in fresh air and consult a doctor in case of symptoms.
● Fluid can leak from the battery when used improperly. Do not touch the
fluid. Leaking fluid can cause skin irritation and burns. Rinse off immediately
with water in case of contact. Also consult a doctor if the fluid gets into the eyes.
● Keep unused batteries away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws
or other small metal objects which could cause bridging of the contacts.
There is a risk of explosion and fire due to short-circuiting.
● Pay attention to the position of the plus and minus poles when inserting
the batteries. There is a risk of explosion and fire due to short-circuiting.
● Remove the batteries from the locating device before longer periods of
inoperation/storage. Protect the battery contacts against short-circuiting, e.g.
with a cap. This reduces the risk of fluids escaping from the battery.
● Do not throw defective batteries in the normal household waste. Hand the
defective batteries over to an authorised REMS contract service workshop or a
recognised disposal company. Observe the national regulations. See also page
6. Disposal
● Keep batteries out of reach of children. Batteries can be life threatening if
swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately.
● Avoid contact with leaking batteries. Leaking fluid can cause skin irritation
and burns. Rinse off immediately with water in case of contact. Also consult a
doctor if the fluid gets into the eyes.
● Take the batteries out of the power tool when they are empty. This reduces
the risk of fluids escaping from the battery.
● Never recharge the batteries, open them, throw them on fires or create a
short-circuit. The batteries can cause fires and burst. There is a risk of injury.
