Warnings and Precautions:
The endoscopic retrieval of foreign bodies, food bolus, or resected tissue specimens should only be performed by persons
having adequate training and familiarity with endoscopic techniques.
Consult the medical literature relative to techniques, complications and hazards prior to the performance of any endoscopic
procedure.
Use in conjunction with an overtube is recommended.
Do not insert the device into the endoscope unless you have a clear endoscopic field of view. Insertion without clear
endoscopic field of view could cause patient injury.
Care should be exercised when grasping the targeted object to avoid inadvertently grasping tissue or organs not intended for
retrieval.
Keep traction on the device during retrieval so that the retrieved object does not become loosened, dislodged or aspirated into
the trachea.
Optimal technique to remove a foreign body or food bolus will vary depending upon the type of object/bolus or clinical
conditions faced during retrieval.
The device was designed for the removal of temporary stents.
Do not use excessive force on the handle and do not coil the catheter outside of the endoscope. Excessive force or coiling
may damage the device or damage the endoscope, and may result in accidental injury to the patient or clinician.
The following conditions may cause the device to function improperly:
a.
Advancing the handle to the open position with too much speed or force
b.
Attempting to pass or open the device in an extremely articulated endoscope
c.
Attempting to actuate the device in an extremely coiled position
d.
Actuating the device when the handle is at an acute angle in relation to the sheath
Do not use this device with electrosurgical devices or their accessories. If use of an electrosurgical device is desired,
completely remove the Raptor
Do not attempt to reuse, reprocess, refurbish, remanufacture, or resterilize this device. STERIS Endoscopy did not design this
device nor is it intended to be reused, reprocessed, refurbished, remanufactured, or resterilized. Performing such activities on
this disposable medical device presents a safety risk to patients (i.e. compromised device integrity, cross-contamination,
infection).
