ATTENTION
3| When inserting a CO
cylinder for the first
2
time, first remove the appliance transport
lock! (Fig. 3)
4| Carefully remove the protective film and
plastic cover from the new CO
cylinder (Fig.
2
4).
5| Carefully screw the CO
cylinder counter-
2
clockwise into the upper part. Make sure you
do not hold down the carbonating button
(Fig. 5).
6| Then insert the upper part of the appliance,
including the CO
cylinder, into the base and
2
turn it clockwise until you hear the safety
button click into place (Fig. 6).
NOTE
If the carbonating strength decreases signifi-
cantly so that the desired carbonation level is
no longer achieved, you must replace the CO
cylinder.
4| CARBONATING WITH CARBON
DIOXIDE
Lightly sparkling, medium sparkling or full spar-
kling – the carbon dioxide content is a mat-
ter of taste. The Element One water carbonator
offers three pre-adjustable carbonation lev-
els, making it the ideal solution for every
preference.
Important to know: The ability of water to
absorb carbon dioxide depends heavily on the
water temperature.
The following rule applies: The warmer the
water, the harder it is to combine with car-
bon dioxide. WMF therefore recommends using
refrigerator-cold water, but at least cool water
(approx. 10°C).
As the fill level of the CO
cylinder decreases, so
2
does the amount of carbon dioxide that can be
added to the water within a certain period of
time. This process leads to slightly longer car-
bonation times and is completely normal.
4.1| CARBONATION LEVELS
Level 1 : Lightly sparkling water (low
carbonation)
Level 2 : Medium sparkling water
Level 3 : Full sparkling water (high
carbonation)
NOTE
The information regarding the carbonation lev-
els is based on an average filled CO
2
Using a completely full or nearly empty CO
inder may affect the above information.

4.2| CARBONATING WATER
1| Always ensure that the CO
cylinder is cor-
2
rectly fitted before each carbonation cycle.
2| Before using the Element One water bottle
for the first time, rinse/clean it thoroughly
(see Section 6.3 "Cleaning the water bottle").
3| Fill the water bottle with clear, clean water
up to the fill level mark (= MAX line) – pref-
erably with chilled water for the best spar-
kling results (Fig. 7). When filling, make sure
you do not underfill or overfill the bottle. If
the bottle has been overfilled, it can overflow
when it bubbles. Underfilling has a signif-
icant negative impact on CO
consump-
2
tion and thus on the service life of the CO
cylinder.
4| Place the Element One water carbonator on
a flat, even and stable surface. It is essential
that you keep it away from heat sources and
open flames.
20
5| Now tilt the lance forward and screw the
bottle counterclockwise into the holder.
Make sure you position the lance centrally
in the bottle opening. As soon as the bot-
tle is screwed in fully, you will hear it click
into place (Fig. 8). Make sure that the lance is
submerged in the water, then return the bot-
tle and lance to their vertical position.
6| The Element One water carbonator enables
you to adjust the carbonation level accord-
ing to your own preferences. There are three
carbonation levels available – lightly spar-
kling, medium sparkling and full sparkling
(Fig. 15). To select the level, turn the dial to
the respective engagement point. Make sure
that the lance is not tilted while setting the
desired carbonation level (Fig. 9).
7| After setting the desired carbonation level,
cylinder.
press the carbonating button down firmly to
cyl-
start the fully automatic carbonation pro-
2
cess. You do not need to hold down the but-
ton during the process (Fig. 10).
NOTE
Press the carbonating button in the rear area
of the appliance for convenient operation.
Each bottle filling may only be carbonated
once. Repeated carbonation can cause the
bottle to overflow.
Never begin the carbonation process without
first inserting an Element One water bottle
filled with drinking water up to the fill level
mark (MAX line) in the appliance.
Do not move the appliance during the car-
bonation process.
A clearly audible click indicates the end of the
carbonation process.
CAUTION
2
The water bottle is pressurized after carbon-
ation! To release the residual pressure, tilt the
bottle and lance forward before removing the
bottle. To remove the bottle, turn it clockwise
only when it is angled and never when it is ver-
tical (Fig. 11).
5| ADDING EXTRA FLAVOR TO
THE WATER
Some manufacturers offer additives in the form
of juice, concentrate and syrup to add extra fla-
vor to water.
Note that these additives must not be added to
the Element One water bottle prior to carbon-
ation. You may only add them afterwards.
Also note that in this case, the bottle must be
thoroughly cleaned before the next carbonation
process to prevent possible additive residues
from penetrating into components of the water
carbonator. This could damage the appliance!
WMF therefore recommends that you pour the
carbonated water and additives into a glass or
carafe and then mix them together. (Tip: On
www.wmf.com you will find a wide range of
drinking glasses and carafes for this purpose.)

6| CLEANING AND CARE

6.1| CLEANING THE APPLIANCE
HOUSING
To clean the surfaces, use a damp (microfiber)
cloth. If necessary, add some mild washing-up
liquid.
Do not use harsh and/or aggressive solvents or
cleaning agents to clean the surfaces!
Do not immerse the appliance in water and
never clean it in the dishwasher.
6.2| CLEANING THE LANCE AND THE
INTERNAL COMPONENTS
To clean the lance and the internal components,
use a damp (microfiber) cloth. If necessary, add
some mild washing-up liquid.
