After completion of the reactivation charge (4h), the unit automatically switches to
trickle charge. This is shown in the display.
Reactivation can be interrupted at any time by pressing the "STOP" button and the
display jumps to the basic menu. The charger is switched off by pulling the mains
plug out of the socket.
With a reduced charging current over a limited period of time, the charging voltage
is increased to such an extent that the battery begins to produce gases. This causes
an acid rearrangement in the battery and a partial degradation of the sulphate
layers, which has a positive effect on the performance and service life of the battery.
Please note that the battery develops explosive oxyhydrogen gas during this phase.
After completing reactivation, it is essential to check the battery's acid level and, if
necessary, top it up with distilled water, as reactivation usually leads to a loss of
fluid in the battery.
In the operating mode "reactivation", the charger does not automatically
switch to error after removing the battery clamps from the battery to be
charged.
The charging voltage is still present at the charging clamps.
Closed lead-GEL and AGM batteries
must not be reactivated!
This function is intended to reactivate
deeply discharged lead-acid batteries.
However, defective lead-acid batteries
(cell short circuit) cannot be reactivated
with it.
Reactivation is started by connecting the
battery and pressing the "Start" button. The
display shows "REACTIVATION ACTIVE".
If an error message "No battery
connected" appears instead, no battery, a
deeply discharged battery (battery voltage
less than 3 V) or the battery cables have
been connected incorrectly (reverse
polarity). Reactivation starts automatically
as soon as a functioning battery is
connected.
