SPI values
The following table gives the theoretical values for two (30% and
80%) accelerate positions on the SPI. Notice that each EPSILON 6
size has a slightly different polar curve.
Practical examples for best glide with an EPSILON 6 28
• With no headwind (or with a tailwind), little or no expected thermal,
and the glider's normal sink rate (ca.1.2 m/s vario) fly with no speed
bar (0%).
• With a headwind of 14 km/h or an expected next climb (vario)
of 0.6 m/s or a sink rate (vario) of 1.6 m/s set the 30% position.
If two or more of these values apply at the same time you can
already use the 80% position.
• With a headwind of 25 km/h or an expected climb rate (vario) of
1.8 m/s or a vario sink rate of 2.8 m/s choose the 80% position.
