This stop device has been tested and approved to secure 1 person against falling and for rescue in accordance with EN 795:2012 Type B
and to secure 2 persons against falling and for rescue in accordance with CEN/TS 16415:2017 . If used in combination with the following
additionally required equipment: Safety harnesses compliant with EN 361, IKAR fall arrest devices compliant with EN 360, IKAR HRA
fall arrest devices with rescue-lifting equipment compliant with EN 360/EN 1496, it must be ensured that the force exerted on the user as
the fall is arrested is limited to a maximum of 6 kN. The anchorage equipment and fall arrest devices must only be used for their original
intended purpose.
Please note: The IKAR HRA fall arrest device with rescue hoisting facility is not included in the scope of delivery.
The instructions for use of the additionally used equipment and components must also be observed.
2.
Disregarding the instructions for use can risk causing death. In event of a fall, it must be ensured that the person is not left hanging for
more than 15 minutes (risk of suffering shock).
3.
A rescue plan that takes into account all potential emergencies in work-related scenarios must be in place.
4.
The device must only be used by persons who have received the relevant training and who possess the appropriate expertise. Any
factors that could impair an individual's physical health must be eliminated (e.g. alcohol, drugs, medications or circulatory problems)
5.
An optional IKAR fall arresting device (HRA) with rescue-lifting equipment can only be used to protect one person at a time, but can be
used by multiple persons one after another.
6.
A suitable anchoring surface should be used for the assembly of IKAR sleeve. The forces specified on page 29 must be taken into
account. The cantilever arm is mounted by inserting it into the IKAR sleeve.
7.
Before each use, check the legibility of the product marking and carry out a visual and functional check of the stop device and its
components for obvious defects (according to the list on page 2). A functional test should to be performed for the optional IKAR fall
arresting device (HRA), either by jerking the rope outward or applying a test weight of at least 15 kg. The pawls must engage when this
is done.
8.
The safety protection of the worker is established once the cantilever arm has been correctly installed without error, and the optional
IKAR HRA fall arrester has been attached to the safety harness worn by the worker. The connection element must be checked to ensure
that it is functioning correctly.
9.
The device should be positioned as plumb as possible over the head of the person to be secured in order to prevent swinging
movements as the person is lowered. The type of use should be selected so as to reduce the risk of a free-fall and to limit the fall height
to a minimum. A deflection or displacement of the stop device that has to be taken into account in practice is not to be expected.
10. IKAR fall arresters may not be used to secure persons to rest on dry bulk goods or similar materials that a person can sink into. It must
be ensured that the type of work limits free falling to a minimum. Slackening of the cable must be avoided. In the event of a fall, impact
with the ground or any other obstacles must be impossible. A system shall be taken out of use without delay if it has been damaged or
strained by a fall, or if doubts exist regarding the safe condition of the system.
11. It may only be brought back into service after an expert has inspected it and written approval has been obtained.
12. Depending on the stress to which it is subjected - but at least every 12 months - the anchorage point must be inspected by the
manufacturer or an expert whose field of expertise relates to personal protective equipment providing anti-fall protection. This must be
documented in the accompanying inspection logbooks. The effectiveness and service life of the cantilever arm and IKAR fall arrester
depend on these regular inspections.
13. If the cable breaks, kinks or frays, the optional IKAR fall arresting device shall be handed over to the repair workshop for replacement of
the cable.
14. Compliance with DGUV Regulations 112-198 and 112-199 is mandatory.
15. The IKAR fall arrester is intended for use at temperatures between −40° C and +50°C, in accordance with EN 360:2022
16. The permissible load on the anchorage device complies with EN 795:2012 for the protection and rescue of one person and
CEN/TS 16415:2017 for the protection and rescue of a maximum of 2 persons.
17. The cantilever arm and the IKAR fall arrester must be protected against exposure to welding flames and sparks, fire, acids, bases,
extreme temperatures and similar environmental influences. The anchor device and any optional equipment should be stored in a clean,
dry and well-ventilated place after use until they are required again. The cantilever arm must be protected against impact, shocks and
blows during transport.
18. Modifications or enhancements must not be made to the device, otherwise life-threatening injuries may result.
19. Before using disinfectants, you have to contact the manufacturer due to the complex legal product classifications based on the specific
applications and constituents.
