f) Do not expose batteries to fi re
or elevated temperatures. Fire or
temperatures over 130 °C can cause
an explosion.
g) Follow all instructions for charg-
ing and never charge the bat-
tery or the battery-powered tool
outside the temperature range
stated in the operating instruc-
tions. Incorrect charging or charging
outside the permitted temperature
range may destroy the battery and in-
crease the risk of fi re.
6) SERVICE
a) Have your power tool serviced
by a qualifi ed repair person us-
ing only identical replacement
parts. This will ensure that the safety
of the power tool is maintained.
b) Never repair damaged batter-
ies. All battery repairs should be car-
ried out by the manufacturer or author-
ised customer service centres only.
Safety information for
garden pruners
a) When in operation, keep all body
parts away from the saw chain. Before
you start the saw, ensure that the saw
chain is not touching anything. When
using a garden pruner, losing concen-
tration for just a moment can lead to
clothing or body parts being caught up
in the saw chain.
b) Always hold the garden pruner with
your right hand on the rear handle and
left hand on the front handle. Hold-
ing the garden pruner the other way
around increases the risk of injuries
and is not permitted.
c) Wear safety glasses and ear protec-
tion. Other protective equipment for the
head, hands, legs and feet is compul-
sory. Adequate protective clothing will
reduce personal injury by fl ying debris
or accidentaI contact with the saw
chain.
d) Do not operate a chain saw in a tree.
Operation of a chain saw white up in
a tree may result in personal in jury.
e) Ensure you are standing fi rmly and only
use the garden pruner if the ground
beneath you is solid, secure and even.
Slippery ground or unstable surfaces
such as on a ladder can lead to loss of
balance or loss of control over the gar-
den pruner.
f) If working on a branch under tension,
be aware that it will spring back.
Once the tension in the wood fi bres
has been released, the branch may hit
the operator and/or control over the
garden pruner may be lost.
g) Use extreme caution when cutting brush
and saplings. The slender material may
catch the saw chain and be whipped
toward you or pull you off balance.
h) Carry the garden pruner by the front
handle when it is switched off with the
saw chain pointing away from your
body. Always place the protective
cover onto the garden pruner when
transporting or storing it. Careful han-
dling of the garden pruner reduces the
probability of accidentally coming into
contact with the running saw chain.
i) Follow instructions for lubricating, chain
tensioning and changing accessories.
Improperly tensioned or lubricated
chain may either break or increase the
chance for kickback.
k) Keep handles dry, clean, and free from
oil and grease. Greasy, oily handles
are slippery causing loss of control.
