Starting and Operating the Device

Starting the device:
In order to switch on the device, please press the power button ②. After a short delay, caused
by an autocalibration, the display shows that your GoldScreenPen is ready for measurement ⑤.
Please make sure that are no metallic objects near the probe tip while starting the device. The
display mode ⑧ will inform you of this.
Performing measurements:
To determine the conductivity of your test object, hold the tip of the pen perpendicular to the
surface of the test object (see Figure 2). Please do not place the sensor tip too forcefully on the
surface or on sharp-edged mintages, as this may damage or destroy the sensitive coil in the
tip. A gentle pressure, like when writing with a pen, is totally sufficient. The device performs
two measurements per second. Thus, the resulting conductivity value is continuously output on
the display with an accuracy of one decimal place ③. Due to the measuring intervals and the
user-related change in the position of the probe tip during the measurement, it is possible that
the output conductivity value does not remain constant.
After removing the sensor tip from the object, the device performs an intermediate calibration
after about two seconds. We therefore recommend that you wait a few seconds between two
measurements to allow the device to autocalibrate.
IMPORTANT: The probe tip is sensitive! A light touch is completely sufficient during testing.
Pressed-in probe tips are not covered by the warranty, and such repairs must be borne by the
customer.
