8. Fuel and supplies: safe handling
Use extreme caution when handling fuels.
They are flammable and the vapors are
explosive. The following points should be
observed:
• Safety instructions
a) As fuel is extremely flammable, it should
always be handled with care.
b) Always refuel outdoors, away from any
flame or source of sparks. Do not inhale
gasoline vapors as they are poisonous.
c) Never add fuel when the engine is running
or hot.
d) Do not allow gasoline or oil to come into
contact with the skin.
e) Keep oil and gasoline away from eyes. If oil
or gasoline gets in your eyes, flush them
immediately with clean water. If irritation
persists seek medical attention immediately.
f) Clean up any spilled fuel immediately.
• Fuel mixture
a) This tool uses a two-stroke engine which
requires a mixture of gasoline and 2-stroke oil.
Mix unleaded gasoline and 2-stroke engine oil
in a clean container approved for gasoline.
b) The engine is certified to operate on
unleaded automotive gasoline with an octane
rating of 90 ([R + M] / 2) or higher.
c) Do not use ready-made mixtures from
service stations such as those used in
motorcycles, mopeds, etc.
d) Use a high quality self-mixing 2-stroke oil for
air-cooled engines. Do not use automotive or
2-stroke outboard oil.
e) Mix the fuel thoroughly before each supply.
Mix in small quantities. Do not mix more fuel
than will be used in a 30 day period. It is
recommended to use a 2-stroke oil containing
a fuel stabilizer.
f) Use only approved containers.
• Filling the tank
a) Clean around filler cap to prevent fuel
contamination.
b) Loosen fuel cap slowly to release pressure
and prevent fuel from escaping.
c) Never remove the fuel tank cap or add fuel
while the engine is running. Allow engine and
exhaust system components to cool before
refueling.
d) Carefully pour the fuel into the tank. Do not
overfill the tank. Avoid spilling fuel. Always stop
the engine before refueling. Never fill the tank
of a machine when the engine is running or
hot. Move at least 5 m away from the refueling
point before starting the engine. NO SMOKING
!
e) Always replace the fuel tank cap and tighten
it securely after refueling.
f) If you spill fuel, do not attempt to start the
engine but move the machine away from
spillage before starting.
g) Never refuel in a closed room.
h) Never store the tool or the fuel container in a
room where there is an open flame such as
that of a water heater.
i) If the fuel tank is drained, it should be done
outdoors.
9. Storage and maintenance
a) Remove any residue on the machine, check
that no part is damaged, if not, have it repaired
before the next use.
b) Stop the appliance and remove the spark
plug before any maintenance work.
c) Only use spare parts and accessories
supplied
or
recommended
manufacturer. Never attempt to repair the
device yourself.
Indeed, all work that is not stipulated in this
manual must be entrusted exclusively to after-
sales service stations authorized by us.
d) Empty the fuel from the tank, loosen the
tank bleed screw so that the fuel flows out,
start the machine and let it run until it stops by
itself.
e) Remove the spark plug and put a few drops
of 2-stroke oil in the engine. Pull the starter
rope 2 to 3 times, put the spark plug back to
the anchor point.
f) Apply anti-rust product to the metal parts
such as the metal accelerator cable, put the
cover on the cutting devices and store the
machine indoors in a dry place.
d) When the machine is stopped to carry out
maintenance operations, to inspect or to store
it, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug
cable and make sure that all moving parts are
stop. Allow engine to cool before performing
any inspection, adjustment, etc.
e) Store the machine in a location where fuel
vapor will not reach an open flame or spark.
Always allow the machine to cool before
storing it.
f) When transporting or storing the machine,
always fit the transport protection of the cutting
device.
