l) Operate the machine only in daylight or good
artificial light.
m) Before using the machine and after any
impact, check for signs of wear or damage
and, if necessary, have the necessary repairs
carried out.
n) Do not operate the machine if the cutting
device is damaged or shows excessive wear.
o) Never operate the machine if it has
damaged guards or if they are not in place.
p) Always keep hands and feet clear of cutting
devices, especially when starting the engine.
q) Always ensure that handles and guards are
fitted when the machine is in use. Never
attempt to use an incomplete machine or one
that has undergone unauthorized modification.
r) Never use spare parts or accessories not
supplied or not recommended by the
manufacturer.
s) Switch off the engine and remove the spark
plug wire before carrying out any maintenance
checks or work on the machine and when it is
not in use.
t) Always ensure that the ventilation openings
are free of debris.
u) Do not operate the machine near explosive
or flammable materials, liquids or gases. Never
work with the machine in closed or badly
ventilated places because, once running, the
engine gives off toxic exhaust gases. These
gases are odorless and invisible, and therefore
dangerous. In addition, if inhaled, these gases
can cause unconsciousness and even death.
v) Wear appropriate work clothes. Do not wear
loose clothing or jewelry that can get caught in
moving parts of the machine. Make sure you
always wear protective goggles or other eye
protection, acoustic protection (IMPERATIVE
when the acoustic pressure is greater than 80
dB (A)), a protective helmet (it is
recommended to wear a helmet with protection
face), boots or shoes with non-slip soles, long,
sturdy pants and heavy-duty work gloves. The
personal protective equipment (PPE) used
must meet the standards in force.
2. Practical advice for using the machine in
brushcutter function
a) When starting the engine and while it is
running, keep all body parts, especially hands
and feet, away from the cutting line and the 3-
tooth blade. Do not start the brushcutter when
it is upside down (its head in the air) or if it is
not in the correct working position.
The protective cover and other protective
devices are intended to protect you but
they also ensure correct operation of the
appliance.
b) Only use an original cutting head and 3-
tooth blade. Never use a metal cutting device
instead of the plastic line. Do not use the unit
to cut grass/turf that does not grow on the
ground, e.g. grass on walls, rocks, overhead,
etc. With the device running, do not cross
stony areas and paths.
After switching off the brushcutter, the
blade and the nylon line still rotate for a few
seconds, so be very careful.
c) Maintain a safety distance of 15 m around
the brushcutter during use. In the work area,
the user of the brushcutter is responsible for
accidents and damage caused to others or
their property by the use of the device. Stop
using the machine when people, especially
children, or pets are nearby.
d) Do not touch the surroundings of the
exhaust or the cylinder, which become hot
during use.
e) Hold the brushcutter with the right hand on
the trigger handle and the left hand on the front
handle. Hold both handles firmly during
operation. The brushcutter should be held in a
comfortable position with the rear handle at
about hip height.
f) Always operate the brush cutter at full
throttle. Cut tall grass from top to bottom. This
will prevent grass from wrapping around the
motor shaft and trimmer head tube, which
could cause damage from overheating. If grass
wraps around the trimmer head, stop the
engine, disconnect the spark plug wire and
remove the grass. Prolonged work at half
throttle will cause oil to flow out of the exhaust.
3. Causes of kickback and prevention by
the operator when using the 3-tooth blade
When equipped with a blade, use this tool with
extreme caution. Blade kickback can occur
when the blade contacts an object it cannot
cut. This contact can cause the blade to bind
briefly causing the tool to "bounce" away from
the object struck. This can be quite violent and
cause loss of control of the tool. To facilitate
cutting and ensure safety, work with a right to
left motion. To avoid the rebound effect,
respect the safety instructions
below:
a) Before starting work, inspect the work area
and remove grass around obstacles.
