b) During use, do not hold anything in your
hands other than the handles.
c) When using the brushcutter, stay very
focused.
d) During use, take care not to approach the
machine too close to the feet, legs or above
the waist.
4. Points to check before using the
brushcutter
a) Before starting work, look carefully around
you to get an idea of the area to be cleared.
Make sure there are no obstacles that could
interfere with the work. If so, remove the
obstructions. Check that the area to be cleared
does not contain stones, iron wires or
excessively thick plants (diameter greater than
1 cm).
b) A perimeter of 15m around the user must be
considered dangerous and in which no one
must enter while the machine is running. When
work is carried out by 2 or more people at the
same time, always check where the other
people are and keep the correct distance
between each person.
c) Make sure that no screws or nuts are loose.
Check that there are no leaks, breaks,
deformations or any other problem on the
machine that could interfere with its proper
operation. Pay particular attention that there is
no problem with the blade or the blade holder.
d) Never use bent, damaged, cracked, broken
or damaged cutting devices.
e) Check the clutch by checking that the
cutting device stops rotating when the engine
is idling.
f) Check the blade fixing bolt and make sure
that the blade rotates smoothly and without
abnormal noise.
5. Practical advice for using the machine as
a hedge trimmer
a) Do not bring any part of your body near the
cutting blade. Do not remove cut material or
hold material to be cut when blades are
moving. A moment of inattention while
operating the hedge trimmer could result in
serious personal injury.
b) Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle, with
the cutting blade stopped. When transporting
or storing the hedge trimmer, always cover the
cutting device with its protective cover. Proper
handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce the
possibility of personal injury from the cutting
blades.
c) Always stop the engine before:
- clean the machine or remedy a blockage,
- check, maintain or work on the hedge
trimmer,
- to adjust the working position of the cutting
device, and
- to leave the hedge trimmer unattended
d) Check for the presence of any foreign
bodies in the hedge, such as wire fences.
e) Do not use the machine on a stepladder or
on a ladder. You can lose control of the tool
and be seriously injured.
f) Do not attempt to repair the machine unless
you are qualified to do so.
g) To reduce the risk of fire, keep the engine or
muffler free of twigs, leaves or excessive
grease.
h) When a hedge trimmer has more than one
handle, it must always be operated using both
hands.
i) Always be attentive to the surroundings and
remain alert to possible dangerous phenomena
which would not be audible due to the noise
emitted by the machine.
j) Only use the hedge trimmer to trim hedges,
shrubs and bushes. The machine must not be
used for other purposes.
k) Watch out for power lines.
l) If the cutting mechanism strikes an object or
if the hedge trimmer starts making an unusual
noise or vibrates abnormally, turn off the
engine and stop the hedge trimmer.
Disconnect the spark plug wire and perform
the following operations:
- carry out an inspection to detect any possible
damage,
- check if some elements have loosened and
retighten them,
- have the damaged parts repaired or have
them replaced with original parts and by a
recognized organisation.
m) Ensure that the hedge trimmer is correctly
positioned in a defined working position before
starting the engine.
n) Do not operate the hedge trimmer if the
cutting device is damaged or shows excessive
wear.
6. Practical advice for using the machine in
the pole pruner function
a) Do not bring any part of your body near
the cutting chain when the pole pruner is in
operation. Before starting the pruner, make
sure that the cutting chain is not in contact
with anything. A moment of inattention while
operating chainsaws can cause your clothing
or part of your body to become caught in the
saw chain.
