Explanation of
Plasma
terms used
Plasma is a gas with positive charge carriers (ions) and negative charge carriers (elec-
trons). The ions and electrons determine the properties of a plasma. Plasma can only be
created at high temperature. Plasma is known as the "fourth state of aggregation", besi-
des solid, liquid and gaseous materials.
Plasma welding
Plasma welding is a welding process which uses a constricted arc as the heat source.
The arc is constricted by a cooled nozzle. A distinction is made between the following
plasma welding processes:

The digital PlasmaModule 10 can be used
with all TIG power sources from
Fronius. Together with an appropriate
power source, a cooling unit and a water-
cooled plasma torch, it allows plasma wel-
ding processes to be carried out.
The modular approach adopted by
Fronius also enables the PlasmaModule
10 to be retrofitted to existing welding sys-
tems.
As a stand-alone unit, PlasmaModule 10
can serve as a further component in a
complex welding system.
A self-explanatory, intuitive operating con-
cept makes PlasmaModule 10 easy to
work with. The welder can see the key
functions at a glance and adjust them
accordingly.
In view of the modular product design, the
digital PlasmaModule 10 is extremely fle-
xible and can be adapted to many types
of task.
