Device setting for 2-cycle and 4-cycle operation
Select the 2C or 4C function on the selection button
(23).
2-cycle operation means: Welding when the burner
button (12) on the burner is pressed. Not welding, when
the burner button (12) is not pressed.
4-cycle operation means: Welding when the burner
button (12) on the burner is pressed. Not welding, when
the burner button (12) is pressed again! When releas-
ing the burner button (12), the welding process contin-
ues. This is helpful when welding very long seams.

The amount of inert gas depends on the size of the melt
pool and thus on the electrode diameter, the gas noz-
zle diameter, the nozzle distance to the base material
surface, the ambient air flow and the type of inert gas
A rule of thumb says that using argon as the inert gas
and the most commonly used tungsten electrode diam-
eters from 1 to 4 mm, 5 to 10 litres of inert gas should
be added per minute.

included in the scope of delivery) (Fig. 10)
1
Select the MMA welding function on the selection
button (29).
2
Connect the earth cable (D) to the positive termi-
nal marked and lock the connector by turning it
clockwise.
3
Next, connect the electrode holder (F) to the neg-
ative terminal marked and lock the connector by
turning it clockwise.
NOTE! The polarity of the wires may vary! All infor-
mation regarding polarisation should be available
on the packaging of the electrodes supplied by the
manufacturer!

Now the mains cable can be connected and the
power supply activated. After connecting the earth
cable to the welding machine, work can begin.
MMA - Welding (Fig. 1, 3, 10)
Prepare the device as described previously under "De-
vice setting for welding with rod electrodes".
1
Put on suitable protective clothing in accordance
with the specifications and prepare your work-
place.
2
Connect the earth clamp (D) to the workpiece.
3
Clamp the electrode in the electrode holder (F).
4
Switch the device on by setting the ON/OFF switch
(8) to the "I" ("ON") position.
5
Select "MMA" mode by pressing the selection but-
ton (29) until the indicator light next to "MMA" (31)
lights up.
6
Adjust the welding current with the potentiometer
(5) to suit the electrode used.
7
Hold the protective welding mask in front of the
face and start welding.
8
To complete the working process, set the ON/OFF
switch (8) to the "O" ("OFF") position.

m Attention! The earth clamp (D) must not be brought
into direct contact with the electrode holder (F) / the
electrode.
m Attention! Do not dab the electrode on the work-
piece. It could be damaged and the ignition of the arc
could be made difficult. Once the arc has ignited, try
to maintain a distance from the workpiece that corre-
sponds to the electrode diameter used. The distance
should remain as constant as possible while you are
welding. The electrode inclination in the working direc-
tion should be 20–30 degrees.
m Attention! Always used tongs to remove used elec-
trodes or move hot workpieces. Note that the electrode
holder must always be placed on an insulating base
after welding. The slag should only be removed from
the seam once it has cooled.
