Setting parameters with the aid of the spectrum display

The following parameters must be defined: "Gain" and "Noise threshold". The
realization on the graph (see Fig. 5.2) relates to the level control range of the
device and is given in percentages (%), that is 100% is the maximum level
control.

First set the value for amplification (Gain): Click on "Setup" under "Peak
detection" and move to the "Connector/Chain" tab. The signal level control
range should be between 50% and 90%. If you do not initially detect any
signals, check the "Noise threshold". As a test, set 0% so that you can see a
signal or enter a higher value for amplification (Gain). You must then increase
the amplification for smaller signals. As the values for Gain are given in dB, the
steps you input should not be too great, as a 3 dB increase doubles the signal.
