WHILE USING THE MACHINE:
-
The saw blade must protrude approximately 10 mm
above the workpiece during sawing. In this way the
teeth of the saw blade will press the workpiece
against the bench top in a downwards movement.
-
Avoid the use of long extension cables.
-
Wood residues or similar situated in the immediate vi-
cinity of the rotating saw blade may not be removed
by hand. If wood residue is jammed between the still
and/or moving parts, the machine must be stopped
before the wood residue is removed.
-
The saw blade is one of the most important parts of a
circular sawing machine. The correct choice of mate-
rial, the teeth and the number of revolutions, as well
as the correct method of cutting and assembling does
not only increase the lifespan of the saw blade, but
also prevent cracks or fractures and the dangers en-
suing from this. The critical number of revolutions
mentioned on the saw blade must be taken into ac-
count. Do not mount any other saw blades than the
prescribed saw blades.
-
When sawing short, high blocks or small objects the
push stick shall be used.
-
Sawing pegs or joining work with a circular saw con-
stitutes an increased risk. This work must herefore
preferably take place on a machine set up for this pur-
pose (peg bench or milling machine). If you still wish
to saw pegs or carry out joining work on a circular
saw, the following precautions must be taken into
consideration:
the saw blade must be in optimal condition (espe-
cially sharp);
- the diameter of the saw blade may not be more
than 315 mm;
- the straight-edge must be extended by means of a
wooden plank (preferably hardwood or multi-
plex), with a width of at least 120 mm which
reaches to the front of the work top and to 150 mm
behind the riving knife. This plank can easily be
fastened to the straight-edge by means of carria-
ge bolts with a wing nut. When sawing pegs a
pusher block must be used.
-
For joining work, after the protective cap has been po-
sitioned high, the following precautions must be ta-
ken into consideration:
- both your hands must always be kept in front of the
saw;
- the fingers of your left hand must be kept closed as
much as possible;
- the workpiece must be placed with the back on the
bench and supported with your right hand;
- in a combined movement the workpiece must
then be pressed properly against the straight-ed-
ge and slowly lowered towards the saw with your
left hand;
- as soon as the workpiece touches the riving knife
it must be moved forwards slowly and gradually
until it is sawn in so far that the bottom of the wood
rests on the bench;
- thereafter you can feed the workpiece slowly th-
rough;
-
Sawing of waste wood and firewood must take place
carefully. Since the quality of the saw cut is not of im-
portance in this case, the user is more likely to saw
without concentration.

Reclaiming raw materials instead of throwing away was-
te. In order to prevent damage during transport the machi-
ne must be supplied in solid packaging. This is made as
much as possible from recycled material such as paper,
cardboard and wood.
THE FERM AFTER-SALES SERVICE
Keep the original packaging. Should the machine have to
be transported again, the risk of damage during transport
will be minimal if the original packaging is used.
All Ferm products are tested thoroughly, before they
leave the factory. If your electrical machine still becomes
faulty, then contact your Ferm dealer.
