Maintenance and Servicing
When maintaining these units and having such situations where personnel could be hurt by moving parts or by live electrical parts the
pump must be isolated by totally disconnecting the electrical supply. It is imperative that the unit cannot be re-started during the mainte-
nance operation. Do not maintain a pump that is at its normal operating temperature as there is a danger from hot parts.
1. Lubrication (picture
)
The A-bearings (motorside) are greased for life and require no maintenance. The A-bearings must changed after 20,000 operating hours or 2½
years (3-shift operation) by qualifi ed compartment-personnel or by our service agents.
The B-bearings (side remote from motor) must be greased at the greasing point (L) with 4 g, after 3,000 operating hours or at the latest one year
operation:
The suction grid (G) must be removed for greasing.
Caution – Do not overgrease the grease depot (c) of the B-bearing
The MICOVA might get damaged if the warning is not respected.
We recommend the following grease types: Klüber Petamo GY 193 or equivalent greases (see label for recommended grease (M)).
2. Blades (pictures
and
)
Checking blades: All KTR models have 7 carbon blades. The blades have a low but permanent wear factor.
First check after 3,000 operating hours, thereafter every 1,000 operating hours they should be checked against the height (X).
Remove suction grid (G).Remove fi xing screws (s). To pull off the end cover (b) from the housing, two fi xing screws (s) should be screwed equably
into the two threads (a) of the end cover (b). All blades must have a minimum height (X) of bigger than 32 mm and a minimum thickness (W) of
bigger than 2.5 mm.
Note
Blades must be changed in a complete set.
Changing blades: If the minimum height resp. minimum thickness is reached then the whole set of blades should be changed.
Caution – Under no circumstances should the slotted nuts (w
The MICOVA might get damaged if the warning is not respected.
For changing vanes please remove only the fi xing screws (s).
Before refi tting the blades clean out the housing and the rotor slots with compressed air. Place the blades, with the radius outwards (Y), such that
the bevel is in the direction of rotation (O
Before refi tting the end cover (b) on the shaft-end redistribute deposited surplus grease from the grease depot (c) of the B-bearing all around into
the camp-cage. It is important that the shaft end as well as the shaft passage of the end cover (b) is completely clean so that no grease can enter the
housing, this could mix together with carbon dust and give a viscous paste which would result in the blades becoming stuck in the rotor slots.
Note! Care should be taken that the bearing does not become contaminated.
When re-fi tting the end cover (b) tighten the bolts alternately and evenly so that the end cover fi ts correctly onto the fi xing pins. As soon as the cover
is almost touching the housing, we recommend during further tightening of the bolts, the fan is moved in both directions. This can be achieved by
taking the grill at the cooling air exit (F) away. This then ensures that the blades are sitting correctly in their slots and avoids any edge damage.
Refi t the suction grid (G).
4. Cooling (pictures
and
)
The space between the cooling fi ns and cooling pipes may become clogged by dust. They can be cleaned, by blowing out with compressed air,
after removing the suction grid (G) and the cover cap (G
