The REMS Amigo is equipped with an overload release protection switch,
which disconnects the motor when overloading. In this case press gre-
en button (10) on the motor handle. See also 6. Action in Case of Trouble.

2. Preparations for Use

2.1. Electrical connection
Before connecting check whether the voltage indicated on the rating
plate corresponds to the voltage supply.
2.2. Cooling lubricant
Use only REMS cooling lubricant. You will have perfect threading re-
sults, long durability of dies as well as the utmost protection of machine.
We recommend the practical and economical REMS spray can.

REMS Spezial: High-alloy cooling lubricant on mineral oil basis. For all
materials: steels, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, plastics. Pleasant
to work with. Washes out with water, approved by experts.
Cooling lubricant on mineral oil basis are not permitted for drinking wa-
ter installations in some countries, including Germany and Austria. In
this case, use mineral oil-free REMS Sanitol.
REMS Sanitol: Mineral oil-free synthetic cooling lubricant for drinking
water pipes. Completely water-soluable. Complies with regulations: in
Germany DVGW Approval No. DW-0201AS2032, in Austria ÖVGW
Approval No. W 1.303, in Switzerland SVGW Approval No. 7808-649.
Viscosity at –10°C: 190 mPa s (cP). Pumpable up to –28°C. No water
addition. Easy to use. Dyed red for checking the rinse-out result.
Both types of cooling lubricant are available as spray can and in cans
and barrels.
Use REMS cooling lubricant only undiluted!

3. Operation

3.1. Tools
For threading tools use only the original die heads of the REMS eva
hand die stock. Up to 1
from the front of the unit (fig. 2). They snap-in automatically.
The die heads protude the back of the housing. This facilitates the re-
lease of the die head out of the unit by jolting the protuding edge against
a plain surface or edge (fig. 3).
Using the die heads 1
ning ring (11) with a suitable tool, e. g. screwdriver. Remove notched
ring, insert 1

Change of dies is necessary when the dies are used or worn out or a
thread is to be cut on a short piece of pipe. In both cases put the die
head in a vice, remove the cover, carefully knock the dies towards the
middle of the die head. Carefully knock the dies as far as into the cor-
responding slots (die No. 1 into slot No. 1, die No. 2 into slot No. 2, die
No. 3 into slot No. 3, die No. 4 into slot No. 4) that they do not protude
the housing. Put on the cover, fasten the screws carefully. After that,
knock carefully the dies towards the outside with a soft pin (copper, brass
or hard wood), until they touch the edge of the cover. Tighten the screws.
In case a thread is to be cut on a short piece of pipe, see same proce-
dure as above, however the dies are only set with lead in reverse into
the slots (die No. 1 into slot No. 1, die No. 2 into slot No. 4, die No. 3 into
slot No. 3, die No. 4 into slot No. 2).

3.2. Support bracket
The support bracket (2) serves to support the die stock against of tor-
que in both directions of rotation, i. e. for advance and reverse rotation
of the die head, for right- and left hand threading. Support bracket must
always be used!
3.3. Working procedure
Fix the support bracket about 10 cm (4”) from the end of the pipe or rod
lb
by putting the support bracket from underneath against the tube so that
the tube is centered between the prism clamping jaw (3) and the strai-
ning screw (4). Tighten the T-handle, put REMS cooling lubricant spray
on the threading section. Put the unit on the pipe or rod in a way that
the motor drive unit (6) is placed inside the bracket. Adjust the switch
ring for the sense of rotation (7) as required, (R for right hand threads,
resp. reverse rotation for left hand thread, L for left hand thread, resp.
reverse rotation for right hand thread). Push switch (8) to be pressed
while holding the grip of the motor (9). Press the die stock handle (5)
against the material. After 1 or 2 threads, the die heads will cut auto-
matically. The standard length for tapered threads is reached when the
front edge of the tube is even with the upper edge of the dies (Not the
cover!).
During threading, use several times the REMS Spray.
When the desired thread length is reached, release the push switch (8).
When the die head is motionless, turn the ring for the sense of rotations
(7) to reverse position and through pressing the push switch (8), the die
head is turned off the thread.
