4.3. Commissioning, Connecting the Printer

Initial commissioning (service setup) of the BigRep ONE may only be performed
by personnel trained for this purpose by BigRep..
Before commissioning, make sure that the fuse has been placed in the uninter-
ruptible power supply (UPS):
Remove the fuse from the transport holder (Fig. 4-2/1) and insert it into the socket
(Fig. 4-2/2). The control cabinet is also equipped with a spare fuse (Fig. 4-2 /3).
Do not connect the device to its power supply before having aligned the frame
and print bed.

4.4. Aligning / Leveling Bed and Frame

The BigRep ONE must be aligned to ensure that the distance between the print
bed and the extruder is consistent. Please note that there is a difference between
aligning the frame and aligning the extruder (leveling):
The frame must be aligned/re-aligned mechanically before initial commissioning
and after any transport.
Re-leveling is required after replacing the extruder or hot end and after any re-
location of the printer. Please note the difference between leveling and auto bed
leveling! Leveling is conducted manually, step by step after any hardware modifi-
cation, while auto bed leveling is executed automatically and must be initiated by
the user via the interface before every printing process. Auto bed leveling implies
a fully automatic measurement of the distance between the print bed and the
extruder with a laser sensor (Fig. 4-5).
Aligning the Frame and Gantry
Before initial use and after any transport the device must be leveled at the verti-
cally adjustable machine base (G) and with a spirit level.
