PROPERTIES OF YOUR DESIGN KETTLE BASIC
Your new, cordless Design Kettle Basic is designed for heating clear drinking water
to the boil (max. 100°C). For this, the appliance is operated with outstanding high
power, leading to an extraordinary heating speed.

You can cancel any running heating cycle by pushing the on/off switch to the
upper position (on/off switch gets dark). The kettle switches off automatically,
when being removed from the power base. However, ensure to switch off the
kettle, before removing the kettle from the power base or unplugging the appli-
ance. Otherwise, the connectors are likely to wear out quickly.

When the water is boiling, the automatic shut-off switches off the kettle in time
and the on/off switch springs back to the upper OFF position.
IMPORTANT - Always close the lid for operation. With the lid open, the automatic
shut-off may not operate properly due to high energy loss. Possibly, the kettle will
not switch off at all.

The kettle may be turned on the base to any orientation. The illumination of the
on/off switch indicates the ongoing heating cycle.
•
The water is heated extraordinary quickly: filled with 1.7 litres, the water will
boil in max. 5 minutes.

Too little water in the kettle may cause the kettle switching off prematurely. In
this case, add a sufficient amount of water—at least up the the "500 ml/MIN"
marking.
•
There must be a break of some seconds between the heating cycles. If you wish
to re-heat the water, simply wait, until the water cooled down a little.
IMPORTANT - According to the water hardness in your environment, the kettle must
be descaled regularly. Otherwise, the temperature control may be influenced, surplus
energy loss will occur, and the kettle may get damaged (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
BOIL-DRY PROTECTION
The Design Kettle Basic is equipped with a boil-dry protection that will automatically
switch off the heating element, when overheating occurs. Overheating may occur,
when the heating plate is covered with excessive lime deposits, and/or when the
kettle is accidentally operated without or with too little water. Always ensure that the
kettle is filled with at least 0.5 litres („500ml / MIN").
