6 Use above sea level

At the time of dispatch, the baroscope is set for use at sea level.
However, if the intention is to use the unit on land, ensure that the
operating altitude is entered into the set-up mode (The atmos-
pheric pressure decreases by approx. 1 hPa for every 8.8 m
increase in altitude).
Above all, it is important to adjust the Baroscope to the relevant
operating altitude because the danger exists of the low pressure
phases going below the measuring limit sensor (950 hPa), which
causes the 'RANGE' indicator to appear.
The 'RANGE' indicator appears if the pressure is less than 950
hPa or greater than 1070 hPa.
Adjustment takes place in the set-up mode
• Enter the operating altitude in accordance with section 5.2.2 or
• Enter the current atmospheric pressure or correct the atmos-
pheric pressure for fine adjustment according to section 5.2.3

7 Troubleshooting

7.1 Unit either malfunctions or does not function at all
after being switched on for the first time
• Disconnect the unit from the external power supply (if there is
one), and take out the batteries.
• Put the batteries back in - the right way round!
• Proceed as under 5.2 and 5.4.
• Then connect up external power supply again (if appropriate).
7.2 Not possible to initialize the unit
• Proceed as under 7.1.
• Proceed as under 5.4 (be careful to press the pushbuttons in
the right order).
