6.3 Grilling

Do not grill marinated or very fatty meat on the top levels. This can lead to high levels of smoke build-up.
The heating can be switched off at any time by pressing and holding the adjuster knob (2).
Never leave the handle (9) attached to the grill tray (11) when the grill is in use. There is a risk of getting burnt!
If there is a power cut while the device is in use, remove the food from the grill and avoid touching the casing of the grill. There is a
risk of getting burnt!
Remove the grill tray (11) using the handle (9) in order to place food on it.
Place the food to be grilled as close to the centre of the grill tray (11) as possible. The food should never touch the grill tray holders (13)
or the holder for the handle (9). Do not overfill the grill tray (11) as this could have a negative effect on the grill results.
Then select the ideal height for the grill tray (11).
Before cooking, remove steak from the fridge and allow it to get to room temperature.
(Providing the thickness of the meat allows) beef steaks should be cooked at the highest level and maximum temperature. This achieves
what is known as the "Maillard Reaction" within a short space of time. This means that the amino acids contained in the meat react
with the carbohydrate and protein components. This gives the meat a perfect crust and keeps it beautifully tender at the same time.
However, the "Maillard Reaction" should not be confused with "caramelisation", which is often talked about in this context. However,
both reactions can occur at the same time.
Please note that the grilling time is very short and, depending on the composition of the meat, the steak can be ready after just 2
minutes per side.
Turn the food as soon as it is the level of brown that you require.
If you wish, you can use a grill thermometer to measure the temperature of the food core and ensure it is cooked the amount you wish.
This can be very helpful, especially for meat and fish.
In order to achieve the desired level of cooking, allow the food to carry on cooking for a little time on a lower heat after grilling. To
do this, remove the grill tray (11) using the handle (9) and place it on the grease collection tray (10) on the bottom of the grill
compartment (12). Switch off the heating while the food is still cooking by pressing and holding the adjuster knob (2). The remaining
cooking time varies based on your personal taste and the level of cooking required (approx. 2 to 4 minutes).
Use suitable barbecue tongs to place the meat on the grill tray (11) and remove it. The meat should then rest for 2 to 4 minutes outside
the grill.
Leave the grill tray (11) and the grease collection tray (10) in the grill while it is still hot.
Example grilling process for a beef rump steak, approx. 350 grams, 2.5 cm thick:
Pre-heat grill to 800 °C.
Insert the grill tray (11) with meat onto the second highest level.
Grill the first side for approx. 2 minutes and the second for approx. 1 minute 50 seconds.
Remove the grill tray (11) and the meat and place on the grease collection tray (10). The remaining
cooking time varies based on your personal taste and the level of cooking required, but is
generally around 2 to 4 minutes.
Now allow the meat to rest for 2 to 4 minutes outside the grill.

6.4 Adjusting the temperature and time during grilling

Press the adjuster knob (2) during grilling. A beep sounds and "C" flashes on the display (1). Adjust the temperature by twisting the
adjuster knob (2). Confirm the temperature selected by pressing the adjuster knob (2).
:
"

knob (2).
A beep sounds and the grilling process continues with the adjusted settings.
